🚨 Heads up! Australia-wide emergency alert test on Monday, 27th July 🚨
A test emergency alert will be sent to mobile phones across Australia at 1:30 pm (local time) on Monday, 27 July 2026.
The alert is expected to override silent mode and Do Not Disturb, meaning your phone may make a loud sound even if it’s normally muted.
If you have:
• A phone kept hidden for safety reasons
• Sleeping babies or young children
• Someone sensitive to loud or unexpected noises
• Elderly family or friends who may be concerned
It may be worth planning ahead. Turning a phone off or placing it in aeroplane mode before 1:30 pm should prevent it from sounding during the test.
It’s also a good idea to let older relatives or less tech-savvy friends know this is an official government test, so they don’t mistake it for a scam or a virus.

At the time of the test, a single Critical AusAlert test will be sent to every mobile device in Australia. Everyone with a compatible phone or other device in Australia can expect to receive the alert.
