Remember when NASA smashed a spacecraft into an asteroid in 2022 just to nudge it off course? That was DART, and it worked — humanity's first real go at planetary defence.

China's going bigger, and cleverer. Before 2030, two spacecraft launch together, then split. One heads straight for the asteroid as the impactor, hitting at over 9km per second — nearly 50% faster than DART. The other swings past Venus for a gravity assist before arriving to watch. Just before impact it releases a small probe to film the collision up close, then keeps tracking how the asteroid's orbit, shape and debris change afterwards, with ground telescopes joining in too.

Why smash it at all? This target isn't dangerous — it's a small, harmless test rock. DART only nudged a moon around a bigger asteroid; it never changed anything's path relative to Earth. This mission tests the real scenario properly, on something harmless, before we ever need it for real.

🚨 𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻" 𝗣𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗽 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 🚨
You're on a website and a box pops up: "To verify you're human, press Windows + R, paste this, and hit Enter." Stop right there. That's called ClickFix, and it's spreading fast in 2026.

The fake "verify you're human" check (or a fake "update required" prompt) copies a command onto your clipboard, then walks you through pasting it into the Windows Run box or PowerShell yourself. The moment you hit Enter, you've run the attacker's command and installed their malware. Because you ran it yourself, many security tools never catch it.

No real website ever asks you to copy and paste a command into Windows Run or PowerShell. Real CAPTCHAs make you click pictures or tick a box — they never ask you to open a system tool and run something. If a site asks you to do that, close the tab.

Lifeline Australia has confirmed a data breach, with a hacker claiming over 10,600 staff and volunteer records — names, emails, phone numbers — posted to the dark web. Importantly, no help-seeker or crisis-support data was involved.

The same threat actor has been linked to roughly 40 targets since February, including at least 25 Australian organisations — a film festival, a screen museum, a retailer, a travel agency, Centrelink, medical clinics, and now a charity. Experts say the pattern looks opportunistic, not political — this hacker isn't picking by cause or size, just by vulnerability.

Sarah Ezekiel was diagnosed with motor neurone disease at 34, while pregnant with her second child. She lost her ability to speak not long after. For 25 years she communicated through a computerised voice — useful, but nothing like her own. Her two kids grew up never once hearing what their mum actually sounded like.

Simon Poole at UK company Smartbox turned to AI voice technology from ElevenLabs, using one tool to isolate the voice sample from the clip and a second, trained on real human voices, to fill in the gaps and produce the final sound.

The result came back close to her original — London accent, the slight lisp she'd once hated, all of it. Her reaction, relayed by Poole: she "nearly cried when she heard it." She played it to a friend who knew her from before she lost her voice and it was like having her own voice back.
