🔊 We love loud music, but we love our hearing too! 👂

The Elite Lighting crew recently popped into Amplifon Midland to get fitted for custom musician’s earplugs!

When you spend your days (and nights!) working around loud music and live productions, looking after your hearing is a must.

A big shout-out to the team at Amplifon Midland for helping us protect our ears so we can keep doing what we love! 🎶🤘

How do you connect a show when the drone team is more than half a kilometre from production control?

For Moortabiny at Kings Park, our setup relayed crew communications and timecode over that distance. Timecode provides a shared timing reference for the production.

We also included redundancy across lighting, audio, content playback and the network. That planning matters when different teams and systems are working together to tell one story.

Elite supported lighting designer Matthew Erren and lighting programmer Reev Coonan as part of the wider production. Stellar Lights supplied the drones, led by owner and chief drone pilot Robert Lednor.

Thank you to the Kings Park team for trusting us to help bring the park’s story to life.

Creative direction: Tom Muller
Sound design and composition: Max Barton
Storytelling: Kim Scott
Event creator: Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority
BTS photography: Brock Preston

If you’re planning an event across a large outdoor space, we’re happy to talk through the production requirements.

This team of incredible humans has been working together behind the scenes for months, crafting a sound and drone experience the likes of which Perth has never seen before 🤩

Bit by bit, Moortabiny has come to life through a one-time-only cultural, musical, visual and scientific conversation and collaboration between these creative powerhouses.

Moortabiny means 'becoming family' in Noongar. This is the Moortabiny family 🫶

📝 Kim Scott and Walter McGuire wrote the script and narrated the story that runs through the breathtaking drone display
🎤 Ilona McGuire lent her voice to the soundtrack and her talent to the art direction
🎵 Max Barton composed the immersive soundscape based on scientific data recorded within the park by Kings Park Science
🎬 Tom Mùller and Laura Beilby from Fremantle Biennale provided the creative direction
💫 Rob Lednor and the team from Stellar Lights created the mesmerising drone display
💡 Brock Preston and the team from Elite Lighting provided the technical direction

Relationships that go the distance. 🌏

Tom Mùller’s latest work took our support to Ladakh, India 🇮🇳 — the “land of high passes,” sitting at 3,000m elevation.

The brief: make a centuries-old monastery vanish in a plume of steam, moving in time with the mountains around it.

Extreme isolation, thin air, zero room for error, none of it a match for careful planning and respect for the site. Proud to help bring ambitious work like this to life, wherever it takes us.
