🎂 Happy Birthday Victor 🎂

We recently celebrated Victor’s birthday at iScape, and this time he went for cake instead of the usual donuts. Great choice, Victor 😀

Victor has been part of the iScape team since 2019, helping support DBCT and working across platforms like SQL, Power Automate, SharePoint and ServiceNow.

He’s also a big part of the team culture, with one of his favourite iScape memories being a trip to Whitsunday Island, where he saw a white sandy beach for the first time, something you don’t often see back in Romania, Victor's original home.

The iScape team recently came together for an AI Hackathon training day, focused on building a prototype cane harvesting app designed to help harvester operators track progress more efficiently in the paddock.

We were joined by special guests Lawrence and Anthony Scriha, who came to the day with a practical idea: a mobile app to help calculate the progress of cane harvested for their harvesting group. They had already started exploring the idea themselves using AI, so it was a great opportunity to bring their concept into a collaborative team environment.

Lawrence and Anthony acted as the “clients” for the day, sharing the app requirements, answering questions and providing feedback as the iScape crew split into three teams to develop their own AI-built prototypes.

We were also pleased to have a third special guest Dale, IT Business Applications Specialist from DBCT, join Stewart’s team.

At the end of the day, each team presented their app, explained their process and shared what they had learned. Lawrence and Anthony critiqued the three presentations and app designs and selected the winning prototype, outlining the reasons behind their decision and how each app was scored.

Congratulations to Stewart’s team, who took out the win and were presented with a scale model harvester. Model tractors were also given to each participant as a memento of the day.

It was a fun, hands-on training day, with some friendly competition that gave the whole team a valuable opportunity to explore the potential — and the limitations — of AI in solving real business problems.

A big thank you to Lawrence, Anthony, Dale and the iScape team for making the day such a success.

The design prototypes are just the beginning. The iScape team will continue to work with Lawrence and Anthony to finalise a single design and build the mobile app to support their harvesting operations.

We’re now in our third year of rolling out the new Weighbridge system for Wilmar, continuing our work to support efficient, reliable operations across their mills.

This season, Josh and Tom have been focused on delivering the software to Invicta Mill and supporting the system across all mills during the early stages of the crushing season.

Projects like this take careful planning, practical problem-solving and close collaboration with the people using the system every day.

We’re proud to continue supporting Wilmar with software that helps streamline critical operational processes, and we look forward to working with the Plane Creek team on their upgrade later in the season.

Behind every successful software project is a clear understanding of the operation it supports.

Stewart, our MD and Geoff Kent from QUT, recently visited MSF and Tully Sugar as part of the QUT BinSites project, where we’re developing a suite of mobile and web applications for electronic cane consignment and cane bin tracking across road and rail.

It was a valuable opportunity to spend time onsite, listen to the people involved and work closely with our clients to better understand the practical challenges they’re facing every day.

At iScape, our focus is on building reliable software that helps streamline operations and supports the way each business needs to work.

We’d also like to wish Geoff all the very best as he heads into retirement. Geoff has contributed over 40 years to the sugar industry.

Our patchwork Pioneer Valley and coastline looked spectacular on the weekend — and we had the best seat in the house thanks to the dedicated team at the Mackay Tiger Moth Museum.

From up here, it was fantastic to see all three Mackay Sugar mills crushing again, despite a challenging start to the 2026 season.

We're proud to have played a part in getting systems back online, working alongside the outstanding teams at Mackay Sugar who've been going above and beyond to get the mills running again.

Meet Cameron, one of our Technicians who recently joined the iScape team.

No two days are the same for Cameron. His day kicks off by responding to monitoring alerts, troubleshooting issues and helping clients get back up and running as quickly as possible. Whether it's heading out for an onsite call-out or providing help desk support via phone and email, Cameron is always ready to tackle the next challenge.

While the birthday cake and staff breakfasts are definitely a bonus, it's the people and culture that stand out the most. Cameron loves the variety of challenges and learning opportunities, and says the supportive team makes work feel more like catching up with friends than just another day at the office.

Since joining the team, Cameron has enjoyed getting involved in our social events, appreciates the profit share initiative and values the genuine support he's received from everyone at iScape.
