Built to last.

A long-standing client recently brought in this Vernier Calliper Data Logger that we built around 20 years ago for some routine maintenance.

A fresh set of rechargeable batteries, and it’s ready for another 20 years of service!

There’s something satisfying about seeing equipment we designed and built decades ago still out there doing its job.

A set of underwater timelapse video recorders, prepped and ready for delivery to a local client.

These units will be deployed on commercial fishing pots at depths of up to 400m, capturing critical insights into pot activity and the health of local fisheries.

Each recorder can trigger automatically from precise pressure changes or operate on a scheduled interval, while integrated LED lighting enables clear footage day or night, even in complete darkness. As well as recording video they also log pressure and water temperature, and capture precise GPS location when at the surface.

Designed and manufactured at our facility in Tasmania.

Scielex recently supported an important research project by building the electronics hardware for a new stereoscopic camera system. This technology is helping scientists collect more consistent data on Giant Crabs across southern Australia, improving understanding and management of these fisheries.

It’s great to see our work making a practical difference in the field. 🦀

A huge congratulations to the Scielex trio who took on the iconic Point to Pinnacle over the weekend!

Considered the world’s toughest road half marathon, the race starts at sea level in Sandy Bay and climbs all the way to the summit of Mount Wellington - an impressive 1,271 metres above Hobart. Although challenging, the stunning views over Hobart and its surrounds give plenty of motivation for the run.

This year marked the event’s 30th anniversary, attracting a record 5,129 participants. We may not have smashed any personal bests, but we’re proud to say we all crossed the finish line!

A big thank you to the organisers and everyone involved for putting on such an incredible event. Can’t wait for the next one!

Over the past week, Scielex had the opportunity to install our aquaculture camera system at a farm along Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast for the National Aquaculture Group. Originally developed for Tasmania’s salmon industry, our equipment is now expanding its reach globally. Proudly designed and manufactured in Tasmania, we’re thrilled to bring our expertise to a new international market and are grateful for the opportunity to support sustainable aquaculture worldwide.

We are committed to continually improving our products. Our updated Juvenile Fish Measuring Board now includes a scanner attachment. With a waterproof Zebra Technologies 2D scanner, you can quickly scan barcodes and QR codes to add metadata to fish samples. The board now supports capturing 1-3 axes of measurement per record, manual metadata entry, and continues to record GPS data, RFID data, and scale input. Shown here is a board with an optional white deck, ready to be shipped to an overseas customer.
