Part-Time Computer Technician

Ace Computer World is a proudly family-owned business that has been serving Ipswich and surrounding areas for over 26 years. We are looking for a Part-Time Computer Technician to join our team — with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position for the right person.

About the Role
This is initially starting at 20-25 hours per week (4-5 hours per day) and is a hands-on, varied position in a busy retail and service environment. You will be working in our Workshop and Retail Store based at Yamanto, assisting a wide range of customers — from young students to elderly clients who may require extra patience and care — as well as supporting our valued business customers.
While we are happy to provide further training, we would prefer someone who already has experience working in a computer service centre.

Key Responsibilities
• Diagnosing/troubleshooting and repairing desktops and laptops
• Virus removal, data recovery, and hardware upgrades
• Building custom desktop PCs (gaming and business systems)
• Assisting business clients with service and support
• Providing remote support via AnyDesk
• Answering phone enquiries and offering clear technical advice
• Assisting customers in-store with product sales and fittings
• Installing hardware and software for customers
Our workshop not only services customer repairs but also builds every desktop computer we sell — including custom gaming rigs and tailored business systems.

About You
• Previous experience in a computer repair/service centre preferred
• Strong knowledge of Windows systems, hardware diagnostics, and troubleshooting
• Experience building custom PCs
• Friendly, patient, and approachable personality
• Excellent communication skills (“good bedside manner”)
• Comfortable assisting elderly customers and explaining technical issues clearly
• Able to multitask between workshop jobs and customer enquiries
• Honest, reliable, and well-presented
Retail sales experience will be highly regarded, as you will occasionally assist customers in choosing and fitting the right products for their needs.

• Front-of-House Hero: Manage the sales floor, handle transactions, and check in computers for our repair technicians.
• Keep it Sharp: Ensure the shop stays organized, stocked, and looking great.

• A "People Person": You’re patient, empathetic, and enjoy building relationships with regulars.
• Tech Literacy: You know your way around Windows and you understand the difference between an SSD and a HDD.
• Reliability: As a small business, we count on each other. We need someone who is punctual and dependable.
• Problem Solvers: You’re proactive and happy to help out with whatever needs doing in the shop.
• Sales Capable: A Person who’s not pushy but able to ask for the sale. We have good product and prices so we need your help to find the right fit with our customers’ needs and sell it to them.
