IT Basecamp's final business day for 2025 will be Wednesday, the 24th of December; re-opening Monday, the 5th of January 2026. We're receiving reports of internet outages affecting NBN and mobile services, extending from Kiama south through to Ulladulla. There is no information available yet as to the cause or expected return of services. We will continue to investigate and post updates here as they become available.

After four months on IT Basecamp's cyber security concierge service, Cyber Heroes, Orange Aboriginal Medical Service (OAMS) is delighted to report a new sense of empowerment amongst staff. Cyber security has become an organisation-wide concern, rather than just an IT problem.

This is significant because the entry-point for the majority of cyber attacks is an employee via a phishing campaign. Having employees educated, aware and empowered to report anything suspicious is a crucial first line of defence.

Cyber Heroes training has been well-received by staff, with feedback showing that it's been valuable for people in both their work and personal lives. IT staff report that they are now seeing hardly any failures to random testing, and staff are proactively flagging anything potentially suspicious. As a healthcare provider, OAMS understands client trust is crucial and believes the Cyber Heroes program is one way the organisation is doing its due diligence and living up to that trust.

We're excited to be at the Ulladulla Career and Community Showcase today, giving students insight into options for an IT career and advice on how to choose the path best-suited to them. We've had many work experience students at IT Basecamp over the years, some of whom have stayed and joined the team permanently, and we really enjoy being part of the transition for students from school to career.

Of course, that doesn't mean we can't have fun in the process ... a blindfolded network construction competition is always fun, and we wouldn't dare immerse people in IT without including chocolate!

Microsoft's support of Windows 10 ends in October and to continue to use an unsupported operating system is a security risk we strongly recommend against. This leaves companies with two options:

1. get a migration plan in place fast and start the upgrade process; or,

2. sign up for Microsoft's Extended Security Updates for Windows 10 program (note: this is a short-term fix, not a permanent solution)
