Dom's out of the office today, heading up to the Central Highlands to film with Matt and Trout Tales Tasmania 🎣

Back in the office, intern Naren is working through some of his internship projects, including a website rebuild and some investigation around directory-based websites.

Our week doesn't end here though - we’re jumping back on deck behind the camera for a Pilates and running event in Sandy Bay tomorrow - sure to be a lot of fun to round off a big 3 days of filming.

Midweek throwback to some other web design work - the redevelopment of the Derwent River Big Swim website 🏊

Doug approached Wakeford Digital to help make more of a splash (😅) in the online space, where we went to work across a range of improvements including:

- less clicks for existing competitors to enter
- improved navigation and content to help new competitors find key details
- a more professional look and feel that tied in with existing branding
- a backend setup that lets the team maintain, add and remove events, records and information as needed
- integrating an external form platform to streamline entries

While those close to Dom know that he won't be taking on open water swimming any time soon, great to be able to help out local organisation and see it continue from strength to strength.

Worse ways to finish the week than with views like this 👌

Client work in southern Hobart saw a quick moment to throw the drone up - helpful for some establishing footage but also hard to not admire a stunning part of Tassie, let alone the world.

Another month, another Google spam update 🤖

That's four this year, on top of two core updates. The message from Google keeps getting louder: thin, mass-produced content is squarely in the firing line.

What does this mean for Tasmanian businesses?

Here's what Dom thinks: Rankings may swing about during these rollouts, then resettle back to original positions or often higher if businesses using spam techniques get penalised. So we reiterate to all business owners not to panic at a few days of movement. Genuine, locally relevant content built for people, not search engines, is what holds up.

It's exactly how we approach SEO for the Hobart businesses we look after.

Another month, another Google spam update, the fourth of 2026. Here's what the cadence means for Tasmanian businesses, and why thin content is still in the firing line.

We're teaming up with Hobart community organisation Understorey Network today and tomorrow to capture a series of educational videos about planting, seed sowing, seedling care and more.

Dom's own thumb has gotten a little greener in the backyard over the last few years so an opportunity to filming gardening related content was an easy choice 🪴

Yousaf, Lucy, new intern Naren and the team are back in the office working away on our ongoing and upcoming website and marketing projects - busy week at Wakeford HQ.

We've recently launched the new website for Cykel Architecture, a Hobart architectural firm we've worked with for a while now 🤝

The old site had served the practice well, but as Cykel's focus sharpened, a refresh was overdue.

We worked closely with Stephen and the team to craft a look and feel that actually reflects how they work, then rebuilt the layout and content around it.

Under the hood, we built the projects and team areas on Webflow CMS, so both Wakeford and client can update project and staff details easily without touching the design.

On the surface, the aesthetic pairs strong imagery with considered, restrained content, more white space to let the work breathe than the old site had, and subtle animations and interactions throughout that support the experience without overdoing it.

Next step is building out the services content further, so the site does an even better job of showing the range of what Cykel does, from aged care through to commercial and residential work.

Thanks again to Stephen for the opportunity and looking forward to continuing to work together.

We welcomed intern Naren to the Wakeford Digital team last week and, alongside our website developer wizard Yousaf, set an initial task of a fun slider animation for the Wakeford Digital site 🤓

Great to have another intern in the office for the upcoming months, to develop their learning and skills in the IT sector here in Tasmania, where the focus will move from brief writing to website development, design work in platforms like Figma, utilising AI, social media and working on client projects.

Looking forward to sharing some of the outputs Naren achieves over the internship.

Consistent content that feeds into content has been at the core of Nomac Built rise in the digital space - where we're celebrating working with Zak and Tom for 1 year now 🎈

From charting a plan over a coffee at the dining table to full books and a growing team, we've loved seeing the growth of the Hobart building business and playing a small part in helping.

An interesting takeaway which we feel is so Tassie specific is how hyper-local both marketing and leads can be - with the guys having a strong focus on the Southern Tas (Kingston, Huon etc) regions paying dividends.

The photo and video content has helped not only kickstart the growth of their socials but provide something that can often get overlooked by new businesses - consistency.

Having a bank there ready to go and being able to use the media on socials, website, adverts etc has been invaluable in keeping things fresh and moving the needle.

With the foundations now set (no pun intended), really looking forward to what the next twelve months bring with a special thanks to Zak and Tom for their trust in what we do 🤝
