The NSW Police Force uses a digitally encrypted radio network making it impossible to listen in on their radio traffic within the Metropolitan Areas of Sydney, Newcastle or Wollongong using a scanner. ll Digital Service, can be listened to if you have a digital Trucking Scanner and it is correctly programmed. Currently the following NSW Government Services use the GRN to communicate: -
Roads & Marine Service
Fire / Rescue
Ambulance Service
Rural Fire Service
NSW State Emergency Service
Court Sherrifs. To listen to these services radio communications you will need a Digital Trunk Tracking scanner such as : -

Uniden UBCD396 (T or XT) Handheld
Uniden UBCD996 (T or XT) Desktop
