People have been asking where to go for NSW GRN info so here's a few links for you that are freely available on the net at http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=6943.
CSV Files you can use to import into your scanner: -
Control Channels: - http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?action=csv&sid=6943&opt=sites
Talk Groups: - http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?action=csv&sid=6943&opt=tg
PDF Files you can print: -
SORTED GRN Control Channels and Talk Group ID's: - http://www.radioreference.com/apps/print/?act=trsdb&sid=6943&opt=all_tg
As you can see it's a lot of information, but it should help the novices out there at least work out what they want to listen to.
The next thing you will need is software.
There are a few options around but most are free and as you would expect just plain crap.
I use the BUTEL software which is free to use in DEMO mode but I suggest you pay for the PRO version and register the software.
it can all be downloaded at http://www.butel.nl/download.html
To ID your personal scanner, click on the US or EU models and look for the picture of your scanner and match the model number up in the description.
If your scanner did not come with a programming lead, now your going to have to search the net for a lead.
If you have to search, do yourself a favour and stay off ebay. They leads are crap and you'll be wasting your money.
Find the manufacturers website and buy direct or ask who their local distributors are.
Sounds simple right?
That part is, now comes the hard part of getting the settings right and that is where most people fail on their first 100 attempts.
So if you have a scanner, some software and a lead that works and will connect to your scanner message me and I'll happily help you out.
If you don't and you don't want to buy the lead, either pay me to program it or go buy the lead and software.
Its pretty much that simple people.
Enjoy the day :P
