Last July, we got a call from a firm at 8:47am on a Tuesday. Nothing dramatic their document portal was just... slow. A few seconds longer to load than usual.

Any other month, nobody would have noticed. That week, with lodgements due and forty client emails already in the inbox, those few seconds were the difference between a calm morning and a stressed one.

That's the thing about July. It rarely breaks anything outright. It just makes every small inefficiency louder, because there's no slack left in the day to absorb it.

We're four weeks past EOFY now, but plenty of firms are still catching up on the backlog which means the systems carrying that load are still under more pressure than usual, even if July itself is behind us.

If something's felt slightly "off" since the crunch started, it's worth a proper look before it becomes a normal-Tuesday problem again.

Most IT advice we've seen in this industry starts with a warning.
