After seven years of playing with paragraphs and pixels for clients from Geelong to L.A. - and even the vegan corners of the Scottish Highlands - things are changing in Ruck World.

We are excited to share that Ruck Agency has been acquired by Merchantwise Group, one of Australia’s fastest growing integrated marketing and media companies. Our team will now become part of their Three Scoops creative arm, supported by an impressive capability across licensing, social, data, digital and performance marketing. We’ll continue to operate a base in Geelong and our focus will be on growing our presence in this region and beyond.

When we started Ruck, our plan was to create an Agency that not only gave clients the mix of Brand strategy and creative that was missing in the market, but also somewhere that was great to work and work with.

We wanted to use the platform that creative businesses have to impact our local culture and community, even in small ways. And we think we’ve done that- from fun campaigns, elevated design, and helping launch thriving brands through to initiatives like Nice Nights, Design Week exhibitions, side projects like Uppr Lowr and supporting the work of Offspring Project.

We say it often, but when you break it down, marketing is really just one group of people trying to connect and communicate with another. It’s this thinking that has made being a part of Ruck such a fun, meaningful and impactful experience for all of us.

So to those of you who’ve trusted us as clients, shared ideas and coffee as neighbours, dreamed crazy as collaborators, dropped wisdom as advisors, shared your passion as team members or even just stalked our socials as fans - thank you. 🙏🏻

Our latest Campaign and Identity is fully live for the 'We the Makers' exhibition. We had a blast collaborating with a bunch of great creatives to bring this one to life.

Campaign video and imagery was shot on location in the You Yangs (Wadawurrung country) inspired by classic 70s films and weird-culty vibes.

Most excitedly for us was seeing the exhibition identity come to life, especially how translated our design elements into a custom carpet covering the entire gallery floor. This was design bucket list item we never knew we had: ✅️

This flagship biennial event celebrates the Sustainable Fashion Prize, spotlighting emerging themes in sustainable fibre and textiles through the vision of next-generation designers. ⁠

NWM wanted something bold, bright, and dynamic for this year's campaign while staying true to the competition’s sustainable ethos. Drawing from the museum’s archives, we created an underwater homage to algae, a rising star in sustainable fashion. The result? So for the new Tulip website we banged em on a Squarespace, hooked up the booking system integration added some razzle dazzle and away we went. Check out their new menu and then make a booking to go taste it for yourself!

With a slight lineup change in the kitchen and a new menu direction, there was a need to bring in some different ingredients to the Brand ID.

Our approach was to take inspiration from the food, and keep things simple and organic but with a boldness.

Perhaps the best thing about this project was the Owmer’s original brief to take the original brand and “…make it more Radiohead”. Did we achiev that? We’ll let Thom Yorke decide, but we feel everything is in its right place here.

A new year always brings lineup changes to any team. Here at Ruck, we are welcoming a new gun recruit and saying goodbye to talented veteran.

Sarah Price joined the squad a few months back as our new Brand Services Manager. Sarah is a strategic marketing and project management specialist. She'll be combining her years of client-side experience with her thoughtful, creative approach to help our clients to realise their full potential. Previously she has worked with brands such as Visit Victoria, Jamie Oliver’s Kitchen, Cancer Council Victoria and Geelong Cats Football Club. Most importantly, the Ruck team are looking forward to her helping us order more efficiently during team dinners.

We also want to take the time to acknowledge Matt Dunne, who said farewell to Ruck towards the end of 2024 to take up a role better suited to the needs of his growing family. Matt was such a key part of our culture and creative output at Ruck, and we are sad to see him go. Thanks for everything Matt!
