If you use Whatsapp (or even messenger) to phone or text, consider switching to Signal. Whatsapp is now owned by Facebook who gather your data and will ulitmately use or sell off that data to generate revenue through ads.
Here are the main reasons
1- It works similar to whatsapp - has been developed by the developer of Whatsapp
2- It has 128 bit security encryption
3- It is completely free
4- It does not gather your data
5- It does not have ads
Ofcourse, like any messenging or phone services your family and friends need to also have it installed. Encourage them to do so!
Don't forget that your phone calls and messaging are absolutely free with any WIFI/internet connection so even if you don't currently use Whatsapp or Signal, you are paying for talk and text through mobile for no major reason.
