To all parents, guardians, and educators: In light of the new ban on social media for those under 16, now is the time to focus on secure online communities that prioritise young people's safety.

Platforms such as Tec Exec Online Communities differ from typical social networks by providing:
• Active, real-time content moderation
• Strong privacy safeguards for all users
• Clear community standards and support from responsible adults

Restricting access to well-managed online spaces doesn't eliminate danger—it may inadvertently steer teens toward less secure corners of the internet.

Together, we can ensure digital environments remain welcoming, positive, and genuinely protective for our youth.

Tech Tip #4

🌟 The Power of a Simple Restart 🌟

Ensuring to turn off devices once a week.

A quick shutdown can do wonders! Regularly turning off your devices is a small habit with big benefits for your digital wellbeing and safety. When did you last give your device a rest?

Here’s why it’s crucial for everyone across regional Australia—from local business owners and community leaders to youth mentors and everyday users:

🔒 **Enhances Security:** Powering down closes out open sessions, lowering the risk of unauthorised access—especially on shared or public systems.
🪫 **Prolongs Battery Life:** Closing background apps and services that drain battery helps the phone run more efficiently.
⚡ **Optimises Device Health:** Regular shutdowns allow your devices to run smoothly and last longer.
⚙️**Fix Glitches & Freezing:** A reboot fixes unresponsive or stuck apps, minor software bugs, and unresponsiveness.
🛜 **Resolve Connectivity Issues:** If your Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or mobile data is weak or slow, a restart forces a fresh connection to networks.

Together, we can create safer, more connected regional communities. Reach out to THE TEC EXEC to collaborate, access expert training, and help build safe, inclusive digital spaces.

Tech Tip #3

When Your Phone SIM Card Stops Working (and Why It Sometimes Needs Replacing)

Most of us don’t give our SIM card a second thought — until suddenly calls won’t go through, texts fail to send, or mobile data just… disappears.

That tiny piece of plastic (or digital equivalent) plays a much bigger role than people realise. And yes — sometimes it really does need to be replaced.

Jeremy Clarkson once published his bank account number and sort code in a newspaper column to prove that personal data leaks were harmless.

He called privacy concerns a lot of hot air and dared anyone to do their worst with the information.

Within days, someone used the details to set up a monthly direct debit from his account to a diabetes charity for £500.

Never dare the internet to prove you wrong. It will — and it'll donate your money while doing it.

Online communities are growing but not everyone has access to connect.

“Just join the group chat" isn’t always possible if you don’t have a smartphone, or the app, or even know it exists.

Being left out shouldn’t start with being logged out.
