Argent Server Racks Power Australia’s First Mobile Mission Operations Centre
🚀 “It’s effectively a mission control centre — like you’ve seen at NASA — except in a truck.”
— Mark Dunn, CSIRO
Australia’s first Mobile Mission Operations Centre (MOC), unveiled by CSIRO at IAC 2025, redefines what sovereign capability looks like. Built by Varley Group and powered by Argent’s precision-engineered server racks, this dual-trailer facility brings full mission control functionality to any corner of the country.
Each B-double trailer houses Argent’s vibration-tolerant, modular rack systems, fabricated in Western Sydney by Opie Manufacturing Group. These racks are built for resilience — engineered with reinforced frames, 19-inch mounting rails, vibration isolation channels, and 360-degree access for rapid deployment and maintenance.
At the heart of the system is bespoke sever racking produced Argent and manufactured by Opie Manufacturing Group
"We took one of our existing, popular, and high-performance Argent rack designs and re-engineered it to create a bespoke version for CSIRO,” said Humberto, Senior Design Engineer at Opie Manufacturing Group .
"The new rack features shock-absorbing mounts so it can be safely mounted on a truck, and we also improved the pull-out and rotation mechanism for smoother, more durable operation. It’s a small redesign — but one that makes a big difference in performance and reliability."
As CSIRO’s Mark Dunn explained during the tour.
All of our server racks are designed to pull all the way out and spin so you’ve got easy access to both the front and the rear. The dream is that Southern Launch put their own sytems — and be up and running within the hour.
Inside the MOC, Argent racks host the mission-critical servers, networking gear, and data systems that enable control of launch telemetry, avionics, propulsion, and communications. Their modular design allows for client-specific configurations — from commercial launch operators to defence-grade secure environments.
With redundant 4G, 5G, UHF/VHF, and satellite connectivity, plus solar-battery-generator power systems, every rack has been built to endure continuous operation under transport vibration, temperature swings, and rapid deployment cycles.
Together, CSIRO, Varley Group, and Argent have demonstrated what Australian innovation can achieve — robust, flexible, world-class infrastructure that keeps missions online, wherever they launch.
