You know how every family’s got that grandparent who still asking how to send an email. Meanwhile Dean Simes is 102, runs a seniors tech club in Turramurra, and teaches older Aussies how to use WhatsApp, Windows 11, Excel, email and internet storage.

The best part is he didn’t even own a computer until he was in his 80s, when he got a second-hand one, then went and did three years at TAFE and instead of becoming the bloke that's always asking his kids how to use this app, he became the bloke everyone goes to.

He still drives, goes to the gym, plays bridge, and was named Ku-ring-gai’s Local Citizen of the Year this year, which is super awesome for a bloke at his age.

A reminder to be extra aware and cautious of scams relating to myGov. Today I received an email in my junk folder stating I have an update to view in my myGov account. As soon as I checked the sender I knew it was a scam.

Never click on buttons or links even if they look legitimate. Always go straight to the true source (website or app) to check if there’s been any changes or updates.

My husband and I run a small computer business from home in Elimbah . Here’s our bio from our google page. We’ve helped many families in the community restore their old laptops, get second hand laptops for kids starting school for the year, taken in old ewaste that may be taking up space in your home etc. and even recovering data and files from devices that may not be used anymore.

No computer is too old. We also deal with building new custom gaming and office PCs to order. We have second hand laptops and desktop packages for sale all year round. We also take in e-waste and non working electrical items as we’re able to re-use and recycle them efficiently and effectively. We’re a small family run business and offer affordable services to the community.

We specialise in older PCs and laptop sales and repairs that use older versions of Windows to run machines that only run on windows 98, XP, Vista, 7 etc.

We sell separate parts like monitors, keyboards, mice etc and also keyboards and mice for older PCs that need a PS/2 plug.

We also offer hourly tutoring services if you need to learn how to use your device whether it be a computer/mobile phone/tablet/smart tv/car navigation.
