That was one of the key themes for us at yesterday’s CEDA (Committee for Economic Development of Australia) State of the State Victoria event, where Premier Ben Carroll MP shared his perspective on Victoria’s priorities and future.

In his closing remarks, Siemens’ Darryl Kaufmann spoke about the role technology, innovation and collaboration can play in helping turn ambition into real-world outcomes. He noted that, “Technology moves fast, but it is never the outcome we're after. The real value of AI and is turning data into better results for businesses, communities and the infrastructure we all rely on.”

Having called Victoria home for over 130 years, we’re proud to be part of that conversation and, more importantly, part of turning possibility into progress.

Last week, we brought together customers, partners and industry leaders for our first Future of Operational Intelligence event in Sydney. Together with our partners Synertec and Mescada, we explored how AI, cybersecurity (in relation to SoCI Act) and human-centered design are reshaping future SCADA systems and industrial operations.

Our Global Head of Data Centers, Ciaran Flanagan, calls it the biggest transformation the industry has seen in 20 years. One number shows why: the thermal runaway window that once gave you 30 minutes to react now leaves you seconds.

That shift is changing how data centers are built. It's setting new benchmarks for cooling design and moving the conversation beyond workload assumptions to the behavior of the microprocessor itself. Flanagan also unpacks why moving data centers to direct current at scale is far from trivial, and why modularity is emerging as the lever to manage that shift.

Celebrating 150 years in New Zealand! 🎉

The Awards Gala Dinner was a fitting way to close out a remarkable day. And a moment to reflect on what's made 150 years in possible: the partners, the people, and the projects that have helped power, connect, and build the country.

From the Lyttleton Timeball in 1876, to wind turbines helping drive New Zealand's energy transition, signalling systems keeping 36 million Wellington rail journeys running, the Royal New Zealand Navy becoming the first in the world to achieve unmanned space on a warship, and building solutions supporting around 80% of New Zealand's airport passengers and two-thirds of its university students. 150 years of work that matters.

Live performances, a keynote from Kevin Biggar, a man who knows a thing or two about pushing through the impossible to reach something extraordinary, and awards recognising outstanding contributions across the industry made for a night worth remembering.

Great are the foundation of everything we've built, and everything still ahead. Here's to the next 150 years. 🤝
