We often get asked: "Should I be using the web version of Outlook or the desktop app?" Here’s a quick breakdown of the key differences, pros, and cons of each option to help you decide which best suits your needs:

Outlook Web App (OWA):

Pros:
* Accessible from any device with internet, just log in via your browser.
* No installation required.
* Great for light email use, quick access, or remote work.
* Always up to date – no need to manually update.

Cons:
* Slightly fewer features than the desktop app.
* Requires a stable internet connection.
* Limited offline access.

Outlook Desktop App:

Pros:
* Full-featured experience – includes calendar sharing, rules, signatures, and integrations.
* Works offline – emails send/receive when back online.
* Better for power users and those who rely on Outlook every day.

Cons:
* Requires installation and updates.

Our Verdict?

While this has been known for a while now, Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will officially reach its end of support on October 14, 2025. You will still be able to use your Windows 10 machine, this just means:

No more security updates or patches after this date.

Hi all,

Just to let everyone know we will be unavailable THUR - FRI (The 12th and 13th) this week.

Recently, we've noticed a concerning increase in fake security alerts claiming that your device has been infected with a "virus" or "hacked". These are often scams designed to scare you into calling a support number where fraudsters attempt to gain access to your personal information or money.

What Should You Do?

1. Do Not Interact: If you receive a pop-up or email with these claims, do not click on any links, do not call the phone numbers provided, and do not download any attachments.

2. Close and Scan: Safely close the window or email. Most of the time pressing the "esc" key will minimise the window. Run a full scan of the PC to ensure your device is safe. If unsure on this, we can help!

3. Stay Informed: These fake alerts often look convincing, sometimes using logos and branding similar to those of well-known companies (often Microsof). Always verify through official channels if you receive an unexpected security message.

Consider implementing robust security practices such as using strong, unique passwords for different sites, enabling two-factor authentication (2FA), and regularly updating your software to protect against real threats. Again, we can help with all of this if you yourself are unsure!

REMEMBER: Companies (Microsoft in this case) will never ask for sensitive information through insecure platforms. If in doubt, directly contact the service provider using official communication channels.

By now most would already be aware but to those still wondering what is happening currently please read the below.

Recently, a major IT outage affected several Microsoft services, including Teams and Outlook, causing significant disruptions for users globally. The outage was traced to a malfunctioning network router, leading to connectivity issues primarily in the North East US, but also (and obviously) affecting systems here in Australia, and most other countries. CrowdStrike's security update played a role in exacerbating the issue by causing additional network complications after being implemented.

Microsoft resolved the issue by rerouting affected connections and rolling back a problematic network change. Some systems such as banking etc, may still be down.

More details will come to light over time, until then everyone stay calm, we'll just have to play it by ear and wait.
