Canberra City Care is partnering with an artist (read his story below) these t-shirts and prints are in our Re-Runs opshop to purchase, come in and have a look.
Hi, my name is Luke McClements, and this is my artwork. I grew up in Perth and have been living in Canberra for ten years. I enjoyed art when I was a child, however as I grew up I left it behind altogether until later in life when I was thirty when I started some designs for t-shirts. I am almost a fully self-taught artist. I have been living with a mental illness all my adult life and during that time have done many artworks both on canvas and designs for t-shirts. I print the t-shirts myself with a cheap sublimation printer and a heat press.
It is not until now that I have had an opportunity to get my art out there. Canberra City Care has kindly helped me promote my artwork. I felt shaky at starting my own business and didn’t know why. It never seemed to fit with my feelings I had about society and this competitive world. So, I started to get back to my true self and my real ethos and help charity. Canberra City Care is now selling my artwork with some of the profit going to me and the rest going to their charity. They are a truly kind and amazing charity that is helping Canberra, and I am deeply grateful to be part of this movement.
