If your business experienced a cyber incident today, would you know what to do or who to call?
For many small businesses, IT support isn’t always managed by a dedicated team. Microsoft 365 and other business systems might be managed by an external provider, someone internally who looks after IT alongside their usual role, or in some cases, no one in particular.
With several ransomware incidents involving Australian organisations reported recently, it’s a timely reminder to review how prepared your business is to respond if something goes wrong.
If an employee reports suspicious activity or a Microsoft 365 account is compromised, who would investigate? Who has the access needed to secure affected accounts, and who would coordinate the response if customer information was potentially exposed?
These arrangements don’t need to be complicated. Having clear responsibilities, a documented process and knowing who to contact can make a significant difference. It’s also worth talking through a potential incident to identify any gaps in access, communication or decision-making before they’re needed.
If you’re not sure who would respond to a cyber incident in your business, or whether your current arrangements are sufficient, PECyber can help. We work with Australian businesses to review their existing security and incident response arrangements, identify gaps and put practical processes in place that suit their size and operations.
