One of my favourite Boab Health stories.
Because the stuff that makes a place genuinely special usually isn’t the laminated values poster slowly peeling itself off the staffroom wall like it’s trying to escape.
It’s not the shiny “who we are” statement that’s been through 14 rounds of feedback and now sounds like an AI toaster wrote it.
It’s this:
Someone notices the usual way isn’t working.
And instead of shrugging, filing it under “too hard,” and letting the system do its little checklist tap dance…
They care.
Wholeheartedly.
They go looking for a better answer.
They see the human being, not just the problem sitting neatly in an appointment slot.
They do the extra thing.
The thoughtful thing.
The “hang on… what if we tried this?” thing.
That’s culture.
Not the corporate confetti.
Not the buzzwords in sensible shoes.
Not the mission statement wearing a lanyard and pretending to be alive.
It’s the creative solution.
The extra effort.
The willingness to think sideways when the obvious answer has face-planted into a bush.
You can’t manufacture that kind of culture. You create the conditions for it, then get out of the way and let good people do what good people do.
Laura’s pink shoes might seem like a small moment.
They’re not.
They’re a whole story wearing laces.
Catch the little moments. They’re usually dobbing in the biggest truths about an organisation. ❤️
