HELL-O HALLOWEEN 👻👹

Trick or treat? 🎃 getting into the spirit of things, sharing some fun vibes and Halloween creative juices - this outdoor ambient campaign is so freakin clever!

Leo UK has given Morrisons’ Market Street in the a monstrous makeover. ‘Market Street Monsters’, is the latest campaign for Morrisons | Fresh Food & Recipes, to bring fresh produce, great prices and a little seasonal fun to the spooky season. “More reasons to shop at Morrisons”...

Love the design, brand vocab, creative vision and slaying photography - Avo eyes 🥑 crazy capsicum 🫑 and Freddy fingers cross-sections 🥕 🔪

Aldi UK have gone with ‘Sneak Peak’ pastel merchandise 🌸🩵 appealing to all the little fairies and goblins, and traditional Jack-o-lantern Pumpkin 99p is a great price point! 🎃🧙‍♀️

Trending in supermarkets on the other side of the world, Warehouse has released a Trick or Treat bucket for $1 - another great price point and it’s a hot ticket sell out item 🪣 - clever sales and marketing team 👏

And Coles ‘Halloween Hacks’ magazine feature is filled with clever fun ideas, food styling and lush photography - it’s all eyeballs! IDKW? but the Halloween Hacks is at the back of the mag, foods need more creative vocab and definitely throughout lack-luster in animal presence - pets & products sell, but besides that it’s bloody good!

For Halloween Sat 31st, my little family will be busy on the street beat with giveaway treats in our Bunnings Bucket and a dressed up dog - James the Red Dog loves attention such a talent 🐕🐾,🧡

👉 Go to the Coles October 2026 mag recipes online, I’ll be making (my edited names);
- Eyeball Bocconcini Bites 🦇
- Scare-cutteri Board ☠️
- Cosmopolitan Bloodbath 🩸 lychees stuffed with blueberries(eyeballs!) and use Sunraysia Pomegranate juice - might add something more sinister to this, to match my costume - cheers 🫐🍸

Have a Happy Halloween! 🧡🖤 © C Yelavich 2026

AI AI OH, ON THAT PHARM IT PHONEY PHISHED AND PHOBBED 🤣🌼

Tech is changing fast, but are we ready to handle it? 🚀 Everyone’s toying with AI and ChatGPT!

This week, friends sent me a few caricatures, fun and games - what a riot! 🤣 Me in a Superwoman suit, on holidays and Japanese Anime Chibi cartoon style - cute! ❤️🤣😘

In my work world though, it has been a challenging few weeks - not so fun. Clients are designing with AI, and I’m contemplating… my new title “fixer-upper”.

Here’s how the landscape is shifting and why human skills and art remain irreplaceable. AI is transforming the creative industry, but it shouldn’t replace designers. It replaces tasks, making HI (Human Intelligence) more critical than ever. What people are doing:
* Choosing ‘touch of a button’ efficiency.
* Click bait and phishing.
* Fake over reality - value and visions.
* Curation over Producing.
* Problem framing over problem solving.
* Falling into the “good enough” trap: cheap skates, rip off, shortcuts and the “she’ll do” mentality.
* And it’s not just design, it’s EVERY industry!

AI can generate endless iterations, layouts and assets in seconds, but it lacks human touch, experience, intuition and real-world production skills needed to build genuine stuff - connections, quality goods and services.

And it makes costly mistakes! Australia’s infamous Robodebt (2023-2026) wrongly automated $751m debts, with a $1.8b settlement following the scheme. UK Post Office’s Fujitsu Horizon IT scandal (1999–2017) was the worst miscarriages of justice in British history. Meanwhile, NAB is laying off 2,500 staff - 6% of its workforce. That’s just accounting and economics - advertising, TV and social media… all toying.

There’s faux pas mentality happening, and keeping it real matters - that’s what the Education Dept are teaching the Alphas.

AI is a tool, not a replacement for talent. Use it wisely to enhance your skills, not erase them. Let’s not automate away entire industries. That’s tech savvy sustainability 💚 🎨🌼 © C Yelavich

A little creativity goes a long way! 🎨 My teenager has been sharing the easel and paints with me, in between arduous studies. What a wonderful way to relax, unwind and discover the joy of making art. She’s a talented little artist, and was a Junior Archie Entry in 2025.

Facing the blank canvas, she asked “What am I going to paint?” I replied, “Paint what you love!” laissez-faire 😻

And she did, desperately wants a cat and so painted one!(not happening just yet, with James 🐕 around!). She has always loved animals and look at the result!

Siamese cats are famous for their striking blue mysterious eyes, sleekness and two tone coats. Originally from Thailand, Siamese are intelligent, affectionate and loving creatures. This is a pretty cool painting, I love it. 🖼️

Needless to say, Siamese Cat in a Field of Daisies has gone straight up onto the wall, inspired by the bathroom of dreams by the great David Hinchliffe's Life as an Artist. Ha ha! 😂

Make art! Spark joy! ✨

Happy with this! 🌸 This is Red Velvet luxury meets Ming Dynasty. Started this one a fortnight ago with my art group ❤️💙🖼️

Kangaroo paws are Australian royalty, a much-loved native wildflower with rich velvety buds, fuzzy finger-like blooms and strappy olive leaves.

We recently enjoyed a getaway at Coolum Beach, Queensland, where I was inspired by the coastal main strip adorned with red flowers in full spring bloom. So pretty! The ‘Ruby Velvet’ Kangaroo Paw has slightly smaller foliage than the ‘Big Red’ variety, with more voluminous, striking deep red and maroon flowers.

In keeping with the blue-and-white china theme and wildflowers, I have been exploring backgrounds, contrasting colours, patterns and the collective cultures that Australia is so fondly made up of…

I arranged the wildflowers in a Chinese glazed porcelain ginger jar, hand-painted with branches of white Prunus plum blossoms against a dappled deep blue ‘cracked-ice’ background, symbolising winter melting into spring. These are iconic elements of traditional Chinoiserie. Plus, my Mumma just sent me this vase for my birthday, and I love it so much that I painted it immediately! 😍

I set the still-life composition against an earthy, neutral nude-pink background (Winsor & Newton Winton – Flesh Tint from Eckersley's Art & Craft ), with a stripey tablecloth to tie it all together.

Enjoy 😀✌️💕

EXAMPLE ONLY: Just a positioning, displayed on a kitchen wall to see how the vibrant yellow lemons, blue-and-white palm tree and dish patterns, and timber painting frame compliments the interior space. 🍋💙

The lemons create such a beautiful, distinctive fresh vibe. The cobalt blue and sunshine yellow are a match made in design heaven! A bit Hamptons chinoiserie style blending classic coastal white-and-natural textures with traditional blue-and-white porcelain and botanicals. This brings a lovely tropical feel to brighten up the space. 🖼️

Happy days! 🌞🎨✨

Missed the Platform Nine and Three-Quarters… ended up on the zesty side of summer toot-toot! 😂🚂🍋

A little ray of sunshine, a splash of tropical blue and a bowl full of happy lemons!

There was something ridiculously joyful about painting these little lemons with their odd oblong body shapes, cheeky little kiss-buts and glossy citrus skins. 💛 The deep navy bowl anchored the aerial composition, while the tropical palm-tree print background on crisp white brings those relaxed sunny Queensland coastal vibes 🌻☀️🏝️

And a little Japanese-inspired fan-print dish with the juicy little lemon wedges on the side, is a little extra zest and pattern play to keep the eye wandering for more - and a little bit of multi-cultural design! 🌴🍋

A happy little slice of summer, bright and cool, painted in oil paints and framed with love 🖼️💛🩵

Best art supplies Eckersley's Art & Craft (my local art shop Lutwyche Rd, Brisbane). I only use quality oil paints, Wintons have a really good range of colours, Reeves and Reno also. With the paint, I use Mont Marte Linseed Oil medium to blend and I highly recommend this - it goes a long way and makes it more glossy 🎨

Enjoy 😀
