On Wednesday, my son and his friend made it to Mount Everest base camp at a height of 5364 mtrs (17,600 feet) as part of their Movember challenge. Yesterday, they hiked further up the mountain to a height of 5640 mtrs (18,500 feet). What has amazed me also, other than their accomplishments is, that most nights he has been able to send us WhatsApp messages and photos. Even at 18,500 feet, check out the technology over my son’s right shoulder.
When Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay first climb Mount Everest in 1953, it took them approximately seven weeks to climb from Base Camp to the summit and I am sure they didn’t WhatsApp everyone when they got to the top. And today’s job was to drive three hours from the office including 30km on a dirt road to a customer’s remote repeater site and replace 6 aging and faulty batteries with 8 new 220ah batteries collectively weight almost 500kg’s! Job’s done, site back on air and customer is happy. 😃

You know when the temperature is dropping in Queensland, the ants move to somewhere warmer for winter. Fortunately we were able to move them on and the customer was able to have their repeater back up and running.

Recent call out to a customer’s site which had lost communications with their fire tower cameras. Fault found, blown power supply. Swapped with on board spare, cameras back up and running.
Another happy customer 😀
