Did you know you only have about 3 seconds to capture a visitor's interest before they decide whether to leave or stay on your website? โฐ
That's why your website's opening statement is one of the most important elements.
It should convey WHAT exactly you do and WHO you do it for.
If you're a local business, including your location (WHERE) is also a smart idea and will help you rank better on search engines when locals search for your products or services online.
Do YOU have a strong, attention-grabbing opening statement on your home page?
Put yourself in your customers' shoes for a second and open up your website. If it was someone else's business, would you want to stay and find out more, or would you quickly move on to a competitor's site?
Here are some important things to keep in mind when designing your website:
โ
Make it simple to navigate and find relevant information
โ
Use simple language your customers actually understand, not jargon
โ
Make it easy for people to get in touch via multiple channels (phone, email, contact form, chat etc.)
โ
Make clear what next steps you want visitors to take (i.e. "Get a Quote", "Schedule a Call" or "Request a Sample")
โ
Provide helpful content that helps potential customers understand how you can help them solve their problems
โ
Treat your website like a shop front. First impressions count.
