📈 The results are in for one of the Year 4 iType pilot school students who has now become a member of the iType100 club by reaching exercise 100 with a speed of 50 words/minute and 94.78% accuracy. 🎉

The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) requires Year 4 students to have 'automaticity' when using a keyboard. ⌨

🏆Congratulations to this student for achieving this.🥇They’re now equipped for online learning and more importantly the online writing assessment ‘next year’ in year 5 for .😄

is now underway – how can we help our students succeed❓🤔

In just 4 weeks⏲ a year six student at the latest school to join the iType program has completed 25 exercises! The results are in and it's impressive. 🏆🏅

But that’s just the beginning for this student…. 🚀

They are now set up for a year of easier online learning without cognitive overload. ⌨

Next year, the writing component of will be completed more efficiently.⏳

And beyond that, they can look forward to reduced cognitive overload when completing all future online learning assessments, a skill they will carry into the workplace.

The flow on effect for this student correctly using a keyboard can last a lifetime.

The average speed results from iType school students in year 6 commencing this term was 19.9 words/minute with 86.33% accuracy. ✅

If you can’t measure it, you can’t control it, if you can’t control it, you can’t improve it! 📏📈

A Year 1 student ‘last year’ commenced iType in Term 3, here are the results from regular engagement with iType exercises. 👏 🏅

Now in year 2, this student is almost at the current average speed of the selected year 6 students, but their accuracy is way better! 🌟

This Year 3 student has met the Year 4 keyboard requirement 🏆 of ‘demonstrating automaticity when using a keyboard’ as shown in the Australian National Curriculum requirement for handwriting and keyboarding ACARA V9 - 2022 - English - Literacy - Sub elements for handwriting and keyboard.

Whitsunday Anglican School pilot school results show a significant improvement in typing skills for those students who completed 100 iType exercises.

For instance, students in Year 2 and 3 began to pilot itype in 2021 with starting speeds of 6.83 and 13.22 words/minute respectively, using hunt and peck style.

Those students in 2023 in year 4 and 5, are touch typing at average speeds of 40.05 and 42.79 wpm respectively.

What a difference fast accurate touch typing makes to students’ in their year 5 narrative results! 🏆
