I’ve received some lovely reviews for my books, but a one-star review from a cybercriminal?

I’d happily take that.

“Checked the invoice. Had MFA switched on. Didn’t fall for my nonsense. Very disappointing.”

That’s the goal.

October is Cyber Security Action Month, so pick one thing you’ve been meaning to sort out and get it done. Please update that device, stop reusing that password, or check that your backups actually work.

Then keep going after October. The scammers won’t be taking November off.

At Cyber Unicorns, we’re all about helping people get the basics right and keep improving, at home and in business.

Let’s be terrible customers for cybercriminals. Who’s in?

02/10/2026

You wouldn’t brush your teeth once in October and call it sorted for the year.

Your dentist would have questions.

Cyber security deserves the same regular attention. October is Cyber Security Action Month, and it’s a great excuse to tackle that update you’ve postponed approximately 847 times.

But protecting yourself, your family or your business takes more than a calendar reminder.

Strong, unique passwords. MFA switched on. Backups that actually work. A pause before clicking. And keeping ourselves and our teams learning.

Pick one thing to improve today.

Then keep going in November.

What’s the cyber task you’ve been putting off?

I’ll accept “asking Craig what MFA is” as a perfectly good starting point.

When I first wrote Foresight, the idea of a super-intelligent AI like Sarina taking control of the wheel felt like science fiction.

Now, as AI begins making decisions and taking actions on its own, that fictional world suddenly doesn’t feel quite so far away.

So, while Sarina takes me for a drive… here’s the question:

Will AI make our digital world safer or become the most powerful tool cybercriminals have ever had?

What do you think?

What if the most dangerous hacker in the room wasn’t the villain?

Glimmer is book four in my Foresight series but this time, the story takes you deeper.

Into the mind of a gifted hacker.

Into Vulcan, the most feared hacking team on the planet.

And into a world where the difference between justice and revenge is becoming dangerously difficult to see.

This isn’t just a story about technology. It’s about power, loyalty, purpose and the choices we make when we finally have the ability to change everything.

Are you ready to cross the screen?

It’s getting very real now…

There’s so much happening with Cyber Unicorns at the moment and I genuinely can’t wait to start sharing it all.

New cyber education for Mums and Dads, Kids, Seniors, Small Businesses and everyone in between… and something I’m particularly excited about, what we’re doing for Schools.

It’s not just about launching a new platform.

It’s about what we might actually be able to do with it, how many people we can reach and hopefully how many people we can help become safer in the digital world.

We’re soooo close now.

And I’m ridiculously excited about what comes next.

Because changing the world starts with educating it.

I’ve been thinking about the Australian Government’s proposed “My Feed, My Way” changes this week, and I actually think there’s a much bigger conversation hiding in all of this.

Firstly…

Who really controls what we see online?

We probably like to think it’s us.

We follow the people we want to follow. We choose what we like, what we watch and what we interact with.

But sitting behind all of that is an algorithm making thousands of little decisions about what it thinks will keep us watching for just a little bit longer.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Algorithms can be incredibly useful.

But I do think we should understand how much influence they have over our digital lives, and I’m a big believer in giving people more choice and control over that.
Especially when we start talking about our kids.

But there’s another part of this conversation that I don’t think businesses should ignore.
If most of your customers find you through Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn or another social platform…

Please don't assume it will always work the way it does today.

You don't own the platform.

You don't control the algorithm.

And you definitely don't get a vote when they decide to change it.
That doesn't mean stop using social media. We certainly won't.

It means don't put all your eggs in someone else's digital basket.

Build your website.
Build an email list.
Build partnerships.
Build your reputation.
Create great content.

And give people a reason to actually go looking for you.

Because the audience you've built on social media is incredibly valuable…

but ultimately, you're borrowing access to them. I think there's a pretty simple lesson in all of this. For us as users, maybe we need to take a little more control over what we see.
And for those of us running businesses, maybe we need to take a little more control over how we're seen.

The digital world isn't slowing down.

Neither can our understanding of it.

And that's a big part of why we created Cyber Unicorns in the first place.

Because changing the world starts with educating it.

This week is National Child Protection Week.

And honestly, this one means a lot to me.

Because protecting children in today’s world doesn’t stop at the front door.

Our children are growing up online. They’re learning, playing, socialising and exploring a digital world that many adults are still trying to understand themselves.

That’s one of the biggest reasons Cyber Unicorns exists.

We want to help give children the knowledge and confidence to navigate that world more safely.

But we also need to educate the adults around them.

Parents need to know what their kids are experiencing online. They need to know how to start the conversations, how to guide them, and sometimes, how to learn alongside them.

There is a LOT of work to do.

But we’ve started.

Through the Cyber Unicorns education platform, and through my book The Shadow World, we’re trying to make a difference.

We’ve now donated more than 8,000 copies of The Shadow World to schools and social enterprises across Australia, helping get these conversations into classrooms and communities.

And this is only the beginning.

Because our kids deserve more than restrictions and warnings.

They deserve knowledge, confidence and someone to guide them.

This National Child Protection Week, I hope we can all ask ourselves one simple question:

What can I do to make the digital world a little safer for a child?

Because protecting children is not someone else’s job.

It’s all of ours.

They finally made it home...

After making the big journey from New York to Australia, two physical copies of the August edition of Printed Word Reviews have finally arrived!

And yes… that’s my face on the cover!

Inside is a feature on Cyber Unicorns turning three, my books and the Foresight series, and the work we’re doing to help make cyber education accessible and understandable for everyone.

I’ve seen the digital version, but there’s something completely different about holding the actual magazine in your hands, especially knowing it has travelled all the way from New York to get here.

Two copies. One very long journey. And a pretty proud author and cyber educator holding them.

Thank you to Printed Word Reviews for sharing our story.

Now…

I just need to work out who gets the second copy! 😂

Seven international awards. Six for the Foresight series. And two more just arrived from New York.

I’m incredibly proud to share that Vulcan, my hacker fantasy, and my latest book, Glimmer, have both received a Distinguished Favourite in the Teen category at the New York Big City Book Awards.

That brings the total to seven international book awards in the last 18 months, six of them for the Foresight series.

When I started writing these stories, I wanted to create something that would entertain young readers while opening their eyes to the world of technology, hacking and cybersecurity.

To see these books recognised internationally is honestly pretty incredible.
A huge thank you to everyone who has read them, supported them, recommended them and believed in the Foresight journey.

Seven awards. One incredible adventure. And the story isn't over yet.
