Bird & Blossom

Bird & Blossom Artist, illustrator and Surface Pattern Design available for licensing. Hi I am Andrea, wife, mum and creative heart behind Bird & Blossom.

I graduated from Ballarat Uni with an Adv Dip in Graphic Design in 2011 and established Bird & Blossom that same year after a life-long love affair with crafting. I love hand-made products. Imperfect shapes and slightly crooked seams tell a story of the maker, each piece made with love and care, each piece subtly different to the next. When you buy handmade you buy a part of the maker, there is a

little piece of me in all of my products. The Bird & Blossom range has evolved over the years to include unique and colourful children’s illustrations, cards and invitations, re-purposed bunting, personalised birth prints, and bespoke, laser-cut jewellery. Bird & Blossom products are made with love in Australia and always with sustainable practices at the forefront of the creative process. We support other small business and local tradespeople where possible, sourcing only quality, ethical materials along the way. Bird & Blossom products can be found at:
Tilly Mint, Ballarat
Studio Gas, Ballarat
Kawaii Kids, Horsham
The Ivy Room, Glenelg, SA
Rupanyup Living, Rupanyup,
Miss Behavin', Ballarat
Ballarat Regional Tourism, Ballarat

We attend design markets including The Design Exchange, Ballarat, Trove, Bendigo, Springfest, Ballarat. Watch our home page for upcoming markets.

For the longest time, my designs sat quietly in a folder, waiting for that mythical “one day”.

I didn’t think I was good enough to pitch my work. I didn’t know how to approach companies, how to put together a professional portfolio, or even whether my work belonged in the licensing world.

Honestly, I think self-doubt held me back more than anything else.

Then I decided to invest in myself and take The Art of Collections course — and something shifted. Cat Coquillette ✻ CatCoq / kat-koke /

I learnt how to think about my work as collections, create a cohesive portfolio and, most importantly, start believing that my work was worth putting out there.

Within six months, I landed my first licensing deal and was signed by an art licensing agency.

Looking back, I’m so glad I didn’t leave those designs sitting in that folder forever.

Because there really is room for everyone. You just have to be brave enough to put your work out into the world. ✨

Just a snippet of some of my favourite recent pieces and how they can be used in the surface design world. It is my aim to bring colour and joy to your world through my art and maybe a little giggle on the side.

Strawberry season, but make it a pattern 🍓✨

There’s something about strawberries that never goes out of style — sweet, nostalgic and endlessly inspiring. I’ve turned these juicy little berries into a playful strawberry pattern full of colour, charm and a little bit of summer magic.

Perfect for surface pattern design, fabric, wallpaper, stationery, homewares and kids’ products — because who doesn’t love a strawberry? 🍓

A happy little daffodil repeat has so many applications in the surface design world.

I love using the PatternDraw to turn my motifs into repeats.
