Behind every strong IT environment is a team that knows what they’re doing.

The Mason-Brown IT team brings over 45 years of combined experience, across a broad range of technical skills and real-world business environments.

We’re also often asked where our team is based — and the answer is simple: we’re proudly local, with our entire team based here in Australia.

Experience matters, and so does being close to the businesses that we support.

Microsoft Copilot is quickly becoming part of many businesses’ tech stack.

But having access to AI doesn’t automatically change how a team works.

That’s why Ben ran a workshop for clients yesterday - helping them move beyond “we’ve got it” to actually using it in a practical, meaningful way.

It’s a small example of how we support our clients beyond just the technical setup.

☕ Happy International Tea Day from the team at Mason-Brown IT

Like most workplaces, tea preferences in our office are taken very seriously.

Craig enjoys a classic black tea in the office… but when he’s out fishing, he boils a billy with pine needles instead. Apparently it’s packed with vitamin C and has long been embraced by those living in Arctic conditions.

Meanwhile, Uwais swears by chamomile tea and kiwi fruit before bed. His words: “Elite combo. Knocks you right out.”

We’ll stick to supporting technology. The team can continue handling the important beverage research.

At Mason-Brown IT, giving back is part of how we do business. For the month of April, we donated to Cafs supporting their work with children, families and individuals across Victoria’s Central Highlands.

We’re proud to support an organisation that makes such a difference — and grateful to contribute, even in a small way.

This Mother’s Day, we’re giving a nod to the original motherboard.

The one that keeps everything running, somehow holds it all together, and always knows what’s going on — even when no one else does.

To all the mums out there (in tech and beyond), thank you for everything you do.

Happy Mother’s Day 💐

Cyber attacks aren’t just getting smarter… they’re getting more expensive.

📊 A cyber incident is reported every 6 minutes
📊 Phishing accounts for 60% of attacks
📊 Small businesses are losing an average of $56,600 per incident
📊 And 37% of breaches come down to human error

It’s no longer just about systems — it’s about people.

The good news?

A few simple checks and the right setup can stop most of these attacks before they start.

If you’re not sure where your business stands, we’re here to help.

Over the past few weeks, the Mason-Brown IT team have had the chance to attend some standout events, including the Commerce Ballarat Business Excellence Awards launch (sponsored by Federation University Australia), the Committee for Ballarat event featuring astronaut Jeanette Epps, and the Geelong Business Club, where Giorgio Linguanti from That's Amore Cheese spoke brilliantly about the importance of adapting as markets change.

A few of us also spent part of the Easter weekend volunteering at the National Hansa Championships in Ballarat, which was a fantastic event to be involved in.

It’s been a strong mix of ideas, perspective and community involvement, and, in our view, time very well spent.

Different events, very different contexts, but all valuable for the same reason: they remind you there is always something to learn when you stay connected.

At Mason-Brown IT, giving back is part of how we do business. For February and March, we directed our monthly charity contribution to The Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, supporting their incredible work with children and families.

With the Good Friday Appeal approaching, it’s a timely reminder of the vital role the hospital plays in providing world-class care, support, and hope to those who need it most.

We’re proud to support an organisation that makes such a meaningful impact — and grateful to contribute, even in a small way.

You may have noticed the recent trend of uploading photos of yourself or your family into public AI tools to generate caricatures.

Fun idea. Bad tradeoff.

You’re handing over faces (biometric data) and personal information you can’t change or take back — often about people who didn’t consent.

AI is great for productivity and ideas.
Maybe not so much for personal photos.

Just because you can upload something… doesn’t mean you should.
