Checkpoint 4 for the 80 and 40km legs: East Hill Rd A, with Ben VK4YT operating on 40m for Parks On The Air with Stu VK4SDD observing while Horsies and riders come in for a drink of water.
Things are going swimmingly (pun intended) with only a few showers of rain so far.

TRECs checkpoint operators are out on track once again standing by for rider safety and timekeeping.

What a beautiful time of year for a ride. It’s a nice 20deg c with a nice breeze.

Great effort, after the weather stopped our field operation.🙂

And there she is.
The TL special 807 modulated 813 TX, 1930's HRO RX. Expertly operated by AX4SDD / XQA in Malanda as the ANZAC AM station for 2026.

Emitting a respectable signal on the 40m band, this rig certainly gets the job done.

Reminder

Don't forget that VKs can substitute their prefix for AX today in commemoration of ANZAC Day.
There is only two other times a year when we can use this prefix. Australia Day on Jan 26 and World Telecommunications Day on 17 May.

Also folks are encouraged to operate in the Amplitude Modulation mode today for AM on ANZAC Day. There will be many operators using military and vintage gear as well as modern gear today.

Hope to catch you on the air for AM on ANZAC Day.

Get along and support some local clubs in the tablelands area.
TREC is once again supporting Far North Endurance Riders for their horse endurance events this year with communications and checkpoint safety.
Due to some scheduling changes the first event of the year will be the Pioneer Trek 3 day event to be held on the first weekend in May.

Keep an eye out on the page for pictures and updates from the event.

Let’s make the FIRST event of 2026 an unforgettable Pioneer Trek! 🎉🐎

On our final night — Monday 4th May, we’ll gather for presentations and celebrations, recognising every rider who’s taken on the challenge — from 20km right through to an incredible 240km! 🙌
Please stay and celebrate with us — this is one of the best parts of the weekend… cheering each other on and sharing the stories from the trails.
After presentations, we’ll roll straight into nibbles, laughs, and fireside chats 🔥
We love to socialise, swap stories from the last few days’ adventures, and relax together with:
🥂 Beverages around the fire
🧀 Grazing platters
🥖 Dips & nibbles
🍰 Sweet and savoury treats
Any contribution or donation will be gratefully received.
As always — sweet or savoury, homemade or store-bought — we absolutely love seeing (and tasting!) the amazing variety everyone brings along.
👉 Please let us know if you can help contribute — every little bit adds to the magic of the night.

Everyone should make their way to Clairview this Mothers day weekend to take part in the Clairview gathering.
Come along and hang out with hams and enthusiasts alike and take home some prizes from the raffles or goodies (junk) from the auctions.

Hope to see you there

TREC is again operating Amplitude Modulation Mode for AM on ANZAC this Saturday 25th April.
Stu will be hosting hams in his shack to operate the TL Special 40m transmitter and listen in via the HRO receiver.
There will be lots of photos and videos to come out from the day and we are hoping to contact other stations up and down the east coast on 7.125MHz including Ray VK4OIL from the historic Oonoonba Bomb Site in Townsville.
