Dayta Darta We simplify complexity by helping organisations make sense of their data. Unblah the Data with Dayta Darta!

From advisory to implementation, we uncover what matters - transforming disconnected and under-utilised data into clear and usable insights. Whether it’s governance, strategy or systems, we bring clarity and confident decision making to every stage of the data lifecycle.

This week's Microsoft announcement around bringing application development closer to the Fabric ecosystem caught my attention.

Not because of the app itself but because of what it represents. For years we've treated data, applications and analytics as separate layers.

Now they seem to be moving closer together.

The flow is no longer simply: Data -> Insight -> Action
It's becoming: Data -> App -> Data -> Insight -> Action

Applications aren't just consuming data anymore - they're creating it, capturing it and feeding it back into the ecosystem.

Whether these platforms eventually converge or simply become more connected remains to be seen.

Either way, the direction feels clear. Less movement of data. Less integration. Less complexity. Just a shorter path from information to action.

Curious, Always.

This week we delivered a Contracts Hub built across SharePoint, Power Apps and Power Automate and it has been awesome seeing it land in a real working environment.

Not because it looks nice (which it does) and not because the technology is clever (which it is) but because people can now answer simple questions without fighting the system to get there - Where is that contract? Who owns this? When does it expire? Has this been approved?

What existed before technically worked, but it relied too heavily on tribal knowledge, disconnected processes and people knowing where things were hidden.

Now there's one place to find information, track obligations, manage approvals and receive reminders through Teams and Outlook.

Less chasing. Less guessing. Less process friction.

We love this for our client! Unblah the Data.

Most organisations don't have a contracts problem - they have a visibility problem.

We've been reflecting on the future, looking at the natural evolution of our industry and for years, the data industry has evolved toward scale. More storage, processing, retention - more capability and for good reason, data creates enormous value.

But as AI accelerates and data centres expand underground, underwater and closer to renewable energy sources, it feels like the conversation is starting to shift. Maybe the next evolution of data strategy is not just about building bigger ecosystems. Maybe it is about building smarter ones - reducing duplication, designing leaner architecture, processing with intention and retaining information with purpose.

Because sustainable technology is not about using less data but about using it more thoughtfully.

At Dayta Darta, we love helping organisations simplify complexity, design smarter ecosystems and create more meaningful outcomes from their data.

One of the best parts of working in data is when you start seeing information become more useful for people out on the frontline delivering services every day.

Not another dashboard. Not another spreadsheet. Just the right information, at the right time, in a way that's easier to access and understand.

We've been doing some really interesting work lately building simpler mobile-first experiences using Power Apps, SharePoint, Power Automate and Azure-based data platforms to help bring operational information together from multiple systems.

It's also been mind blowing seeing how AI can help summarise and surface information faster, with accuracy and precision where teams are dealing with huge amounts of operational context each day.

As AI continues to evolve and unlock new possibilities, it'll be exciting to see what else becomes possible in this space.

No Smoke, No Mirrors...

One of the things we care a lot about at Dayta Darta is transparency.

This week, a client said something that really landed:

"Before people trust the data, they need to trust the interface they are using."

That really makes sense, if the front end is clear, usable and designed for humans, confidence builds. If it feels messy, confusing or hard to navigate, trust drops fast.

Good data work is not just about the numbers. It is also about the experience around them.

Clear definitions.
Honest reporting.
Human-focused design.

No smoke. No mirrors. Just clear, credible data work.

The OG of Data Systems - Nature!
- It notices change early.
- It adapts fast.
- It wastes nothing.
- It works as one connected system.

Earth Day challenge - ask your business today:
1. Where are we wasting energy?
2. Where are we wasting time?
3. Where are we reacting too late?

Because better data is not just about reporting, it's also about making smarter decisions for the world around us.

Happy Earth Day - Let's do better!

- Measure what matters.
- Reduce what is wasted.
- Act earlier.
- Decide smarter.

Good Data Karma.

We talk about it a lot at Dayta Darta because it captures something we really believe - what you put into the data world has a way of coming back.

If you cut corners, hide the truth, build confusing reports, create vanity metrics, hoard knowledge, ignore governance, chase noise over value then eventually it catches up. But when you do the opposite, good things happen!

So.... ..design with the user in mind. ..make data easier to understand. ..share knowledge generously. ..build trust in the numbers. ..create systems people actually want to use. ..focus on decisions, not dashboards. ..leave things better than you found them.

That is Good Data Karma. It's about intent, integrity and impact - more people creating useful things, solving real problems and helping others succeed.

That is the kind of karma we are here for.

It's been a flat out few months - the good kind. Lots happening. Great conversations. Awesome projects. Meaningful work.

We are continually reminded that when data is done well, it can genuinely change how organisations operate and the decisions they make.

There's a lot to be said for building a business around work you actually enjoy doing. Busy, grateful and ready for more.

Creating something truly beautiful with data is a special moment.

Plain text becomes rich visual insight.
Black and white turns into colour.
Grainy pixels become high definition.
Static reports become real-time dashboards.

And suddenly data is not something you read, it is something you experience.

The Tale of Spreadsheet Panic...

The scene: Tomorrow's leadership meeting.

The request: "Can we get the latest numbers?"

And just like that, it begins.

One spreadsheet appears. Then another. Exports from three systems. Tabs multiplying. Someone checking totals.

Versions start circulating.

v3...v7....final_FINAL_v2.0.

And then the familiar moment: "Why doesn't this match the other report?", or "Is this really accurate?"

I remember that feeling - but it doesn't have to feel like this. Spreadsheets are brilliant tools but they were never meant to hold critical reporting together at the last minute.

When organisations invest in stable data foundations, trusted sources, clear definitions and a proper data model, the reporting layer becomes simple. Power BI, Tableau, Looker or similar sitting on top, so when someone asks for the numbers, they are already there.

No scramble. No panic. Just clarity.
