Challenge Course Highlight: Let's Build a Zoo. 🦁🐊

In this short course learners discover how zoos design spaces that support animals’ natural habitats and behaviours. Learners collaboratively design, test, and build a zoo space that promotes creativity, care, and innovation.

Designed for grades K-6, this course includes fun and educational activities such as quizzes to test learner's knowledge and design tasks to develop their design skills.

Last week we ran the Beacon Holiday Program at the Para Hills Community Hub with BAE Systems Australia and the City of Salisbury, SA, Australia.

This free 4-day holiday program immersed students in years 4-6 in VR, AR, and 3D design and printing. Students got to explore the realms of land, air and sea with hands-on experiences with technology.

Students enjoyed each day, completing fun design tasks and learning new skills. Activities included learning about the Sustainability Development Goals, completing daily STEM challenges, coding, and making Smart Cities in Delightex.

Well done to all the participants! We saw many wonderful creations.

Challenge Course Spotlight: Be a Jewellery Designer.

Do you have students in grades 3-6 who are creative and interested in jewellery? In our 'Be a Jewellery Designer' Challenge Course students will learn how to design simple jewellery pieces. They will discover the importance of understanding your customer and practise working with precise design constraints around size and material properties. This course also features content and insights from a real jewellery designer.

We're hiring! Makers Empire is looking for an experienced educator to join our learning team as a Learning Manager.

This full-time role suits someone with experience in teacher professional learning, program design, delivery and evaluation and school engagement. You will also be someone who enjoys working beyond the classroom and collaborating with educators, students, and industry partners.

This role is offered on a 12 month contract with the possibility to extend. Interstate travel will be required during key delivery periods to help run teacher professional development days, student showcase events and attending and presenting at conferences.
