If you've opened Facebook lately and seen people talking about NDIS changes, there's a good chance you've had one of two reactions:

😱 Panic.

😵‍💫 Complete confusion.

Fair enough, honestly.

There seems to be a new headline every week, and half the time they're written in language that only people working in government understand.

So I put this together to break down what's actually changing, what's staying the same, and what families really need to know right now.

Don’t forget to save this one! Chances are you'll need it again the next time an NDIS update pops up in your feed. 😅

Hydrated. Stretched. Ready. 👍

Being a “supportive” sport parent is a fine line between encouragement and accidentally becoming that parent on the sidelines.

Kids don’t need perfect. They just need us to show up, cheer them on, and maybe… dial it back slightly 😂

We often think sport is all confidence, teamwork and fun. And sometimes it is.

But kids can also feel pressure. They compare themselves and worry about getting things wrong. It’s not always as simple as 'sport = good for mental health'.

Supporting them through the ups and downs is what really matters. ❤️

Sport is great - until it’s not.

If your child starts:

❌ Dreading games.
❌ Getting anxious before training.
❌ Feeling like they can’t make mistakes.
❌ Or being really hard on themselves…

…it might not be ‘just part of it.’

Sport should feel safe, supportive and (mostly) enjoyable, not like a weekly stress event. And parents have a huge impact here. Kids do better when they feel supported, not judged.

So if in doubt, less pressure, more “I’m proud of you for trying.” ❤️

We like to think sport teaches kids to:

🏆 Win.
🏆Be the best.
🏆Never mess up.

But what it actually teaches them is:

❤️ How to lose without falling apart.
❤️ How to try again after a bad game.
❤️ How to work with other humans (harder than it sounds!).
❤️ How to handle big feelings.

Sport also helps boost mood and mental well-being by changing brain chemicals (aka, it literally helps them feel better).

This 👆 is what ADHD can look like in real life. Not 'lazy' or 'unmotivated'. Just a brain that’s constantly pulling in different directions.

Starting things is easy. Finishing them? That’s the challenge. If this feels familiar, you’re not alone.

Every. single. night. 😭

ADHD isn’t just focus. It’s decision fatigue, mental load, and your brain being done by the end of the day. Even the simplest things can feel overwhelming.

Music can be such a powerful tool for helping kids regulate…but it’s not magic. 🤦‍♀️

Sometimes it helps, and sometimes it does absolutely nothing. And other times it’s just one small piece of a much bigger picture.

But don't stress - you’re not doing it wrong if it doesn’t 'work' every time.
