Repeater channels are designed to extend radio range, not for normal radio-to-radio chat. If you use a repeater input channel for local communication, your transmission may accidentally activate a repeater and be broadcast much further than intended.

That can interfere with other users — and may put you in breach of ACMA class licence rules.

For normal simplex radio-to-radio communication, avoid repeater channels:

1–8, 31–38, 41–48 and 71–78

Use simplex channels instead:

9–21, 24–30, 39–40, 49–60, 64–70 and 79–80

A simple rule: if you are not intentionally using a repeater, stay off the repeater channels.
