What can accessible gaming tech do beyond gaming? 🎮

Last week, Stretchy Tech welcomed an experienced team of occupational therapists from Brain Injury SA (BISA) to explore just that.

Stretchy Tech OT Will Crowe took the team through a range of accessible gaming controls and different ways they can support people with disability to get back into gaming.

But the possibilities don’t necessarily stop when the game is over.

Many of the switches, controllers and alternative access methods used for gaming can also be incorporated into broader assistive technology solutions to give people greater control and independence in everyday life.

It’s one of the things we love about assistive technology: experimenting with what it can do and finding creative ways to match it to what matters to each person.

Thanks to the BISA team for visiting and getting techy with us!

What if you could adjust your bed without lifting a finger? 🤔

Voice control can make it possible to adjust an electric bed using simple spoken commands, from raising or lowering different sections to finding the right position.

In our latest AT Solutions Hub story, we take a look at the technology behind a voice-controlled bed setup and how it works.

Curious what's possible?

Sometimes lasting change can start with something as simple as a neighbourhood picnic.

When inhousing tenants and neighbours gathered for a picnic at Spencer Street Reserve, the event highlighted accessibility barriers that made it difficult for wheelchair users like Mark to enjoy the space.

What followed was a collaboration between tenants, inhousing and Campbelltown City Council that has helped transform the reserve into a more accessible place for everyone to enjoy.

For Mark, who lives just across the road, the difference is significant.
