Over the past six months, we have been building the foundations of our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan.
We have recently embarked on the first stage of our RAP to ensure our organisation is a place of integrity, respect and cultural safety for First Nations peoples.
For us, this is not a symbolic document. It is a commitment to learn, to listen and to build relationships grounded in respect.
Our Reflect RAP includes 35 deliverables to be completed by August 2026. In the first six months, we have progressed 24 of them.
Some of the key steps so far include:
- Launching our RAP internally and sharing our commitment to reconciliation with staff
- Creating a dedicated staff hub with cultural learning resources, including training, webinars, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, our respectful language guide, and information about National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week
- Reviewing our cultural learning needs and delivering cultural awareness training, with further training and induction learning planned
- Building our understanding of the Kaurna people, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands and waters where our Unley office is located
- Strengthening inclusive recruitment practices, including welcoming applications from First Nations people and sharing opportunities through Turkindi, South Australia’s Aboriginal information network
- Establishing a RAP Working Group, including Aboriginal members, that meets monthly to guide and progress this work
- Beginning research and relationship-building with First Nations stakeholders and businesses
We acknowledge that we are at the beginning of our reconciliation journey.
As an organisation led by our values, we are committed to listening, learning and building respectful relationships. We are also building our understanding of how colonisation and ableism intersect for First Nations people with disability.
We are committed to sharing what we learn along the way, to support transparency and accountability in our reconciliation journey.
