Hello everybody,

This might be one of the most important posts I ever write, so here goes.

For the last six months we have been building and running Half A Cow, we’ve made some amazing progress and achieved more than anybody thought possible in our first 12 weeks operation.

As we grow around the state and the country, the demands and commitment to this project needs to be matched by a dedicated team.

I have absolutely loved (almost) every minute of the last six months, but that work has been done around my other full time job. Usually late at night, and on the weekends.

The enthusiasm, support and gratitude we receive on a daily basis is amazing. The keenness by which farmers and meat lovers have embraced our mission has been nothing like anything I have experienced in the last decade of business ownership.

I believe the time has come to make Half A Cow my full time project and continue growing our platform into a profitable, nationwide marketplace for farmers.

To this end, we are launching an equity crowdfunding campaign which will enable Half A Cow to further develop our platform, market to all corners of Australia (including regional farmers and towns), and have a full time team behind the project.

I wanted to ensure that we remain 100% Australian owned and operated, and undeterred in our mission to support local independent farmers.

Crowdfunding enabled us to let everyday Australians invest for as little as $100 and own a part of Half A Cow Online!

I believe this is the best way forward to keep our goals and our platform focused on farmers.

We are at the very start of our journey, and we’d like you to be a part of the next chapter of Half A Cow.

SCAM ALERT – PHONE PORTING!

If a scammer has your name and date of birth (usually obtained through stolen mail) they can contact your mobile phone provider and state they have lost their SIM card and need the number ported to a new phone.

Once they have access to your phone number, the offender requests a change of password details for online banking accounts which are sent to the number via text message.

They can then enter it in the ‘forgot my password’ field and eventually gain access to your financial information.

To prevent this from happening to you:
• Install software updates as they become available.
• Switch off your date of birth on social media.
• Keep your phone locked at all times.
• Use a strong password with characters, numbers, upper and lower case letters.
• Use a different password for different login accounts. Eg: phone, email, bank etc.

If you notice that your signal completely drops out, and it doesn’t come back, contact your mobile phone provider immediately. We also recommend you monitor your online bank accounts for any suspicious transactions.
