Picking your first thermal scope is a lot when every option looks about the same on paper. Taylor got hands-on with the ThermTec Ibex 320L and put it through its paces, so you can see how it actually goes in the field. Catch the full video on YouTube

Nine days at the Royal Adelaide Show taught us a few things. Torches outsell almost everything. Someone will always want a thermal for spotting aliens. And a 55 metre ride is a terrible idea on your lunch break.

Episode 42 is out now. It’s the full show debrief, our SHOT Show plans, and a salted caramel wh***ey we may have bought five bottles of.

Lesson from nine days at the Royal Show: don’t open with “what are you shooting?”
Ask what they’d use binos for. You’ll get bird watchers, stargazers, and one bloke who just wants to know where the foxes are.

The Pulsar Telos LRF XT50 is Pulsar’s new flagship, and it’s loaded.
It runs a 1280x1024 thermal sensor with a system NETD under 20mK behind a fast F50/1.0 lens, so you get a crisp, detailed image even when conditions turn muggy or wet. Magnification goes from 2 to 16x (up to 24x with Zoom Boost), detection range is out to 2,300m, and it all shows up on a Full HD AMOLED display. The built-in laser rangefinder reaches 1,200m with ±1m accuracy, which is handy when you need to know exactly how far that fox is. You also get 128GB of onboard recording, around 8 hours from the swappable battery, IPX7 waterproofing, and Stream Vision 2 app connectivity.
We’re keen to get one out in the paddock and see what it can really do.
