This is the NTD — where NBN's network ends and yours begins. Lights are green, so the incoming signal's fine.

That's usually where people stop thinking about it, and where we start.

Most "bad wifi" complaints aren't NBN problems — they're cabling, router placement, or hardware that hasn't been touched since installation. We diagnose it properly instead of guessing.
Home and business networking, done right the first time.

Donkey Kong 2 — LCD repair in progress

Another interesting bit of vintage electronics on the bench.

This Nintendo Donkey Kong 2 was brought in with a dull LCD display.

After pulling it apart and inspecting the internals, it became clear that this particular unit doesn't use a backlight. The LCD is a reflective display, so there isn't a backlight assembly to replace.

I've checked the batteries, inspected the connections and resoldered where required, but the display remains dull.

The next suspect is the original polarising film, which has visibly browned and deteriorated with age. The LCD itself appears to be functioning, so the plan is to replace the ageing polarising material and restore the display's contrast.

It's always interesting opening up these old pieces of hardware — underneath the plastic, you've got some surprisingly intricate electronics for their age.

When a replacement part doesn't exist anymore…
One of the most useful things we've discovered in repair work is having access to someone who can design and 3D print completely custom parts.

3D Prototypes and Models

We recently needed to replace a small, obsolete button component on a computer. It wasn't something we could simply order as a replacement part.

So we took the original component to a local 3D printing specialist at 3D Prototypes & Models.

After looking at it, rather than simply copying the original part, they completely re-engineered the underside of the button and its mounting mechanism.

They produced a CAD design specifically around the existing hardware and created a functional replacement that works brilliantly.

And that's where 3D printing becomes an incredibly useful tool for repair work.

Broken, discontinued or unobtainable doesn't always mean unrepairable.

For older electronics, computers, appliances, consoles and other equipment, being able to design and manufacture a replacement part can make the difference between something being repairable and ending up as e-waste.

We're really pleased to have this capability available through our repair network, and we're looking forward to seeing what other impossible little parts we can bring back to life.

Sometimes you don't need to find the part. You just need to make one.

Currently on the bench: a vintage General Electric alarm clock radio.

These older electronic devices are some of our favourite projects. Built to last, they're often worth repairing rather than replacing—but decades of use can mean worn components, dirty switches, tired capacitors, and plenty of detective work.

This one is currently undergoing diagnosis and restoration to return it to reliable working order while preserving as much of its original character as possible.

Whether it's a modern device or a piece of vintage electronics with sentimental value, we're always up for the challenge. Stay tuned for the finished result.

Old. New. Vintage. Modern. We don't discriminate.

Technology is technology, and if it's worth repairing, we'll give it our best shot.

This folder is covered with some of the devices that sparked our passion for electronics—retro TVs, early mobile phones, cassette players, Game Boys, Polaroid cameras, old computers, and plenty more. But they're not just nostalgic collectibles. They're a reminder that every piece of technology, regardless of its age, deserves the opportunity to be repaired before it's replaced.

At Revolt IT & Appliance Repair, we work on everything from vintage electronics and audio equipment to modern computers, TVs, game consoles, networking equipment, and board-level electronic repairs.

Whether it's 50 years old or 5 months old, our approach is the same: diagnose it properly, repair it where possible, and help keep quality electronics in service for longer.

Because good technology never goes out of style.

Sometimes the smallest part causes the biggest headache.
This customer's PC had a front power button that had completely failed. From the outside it looked like a major fault, but the culprit was a tiny tactile switch hidden behind the front panel.
After disassembling the case, diagnosing the fault and replacing the failed switch, the system was back to powering on normally.
It's a good reminder that not every computer that "won't turn on" needs expensive parts or replacing. A proper diagnosis can often save you a lot of money.
If your desktop won't power on, has intermittent power button issues, or you're experiencing other hardware faults, get in touch with Revolt IT & Appliance Repair. We repair computers instead of simply replacing them where possible.
