When science meets high-performance strength training. 🎿💪

Eccentric strength plays a key role in alpine ski racing – but training with supramaximal eccentric loads presents a challenge: How can athletes work with loads beyond their concentric capabilities while maintaining the natural movement of a free barbell and a high level of safety?

A scientific publication by Patterson & Raschner examined the application of supramaximal eccentric training with the LIFTER in elite alpine skiing. ⛷️🏋

One particularly interesting case:

An Austrian elite ski racer and multiple Olympic and World Championship medalist completed a 4-week supramaximal eccentric squat training block using the LIFTER.

The result: Squat 1RM increased from 115 kg to 127.5 kg – an improvement of 11%. 🔥

The LIFTER enables athletes to perform eccentric-only training with a freely moving barbell, while the system automatically returns the load to the starting position. This makes it possible to combine the characteristics of free-weight training with automated support and safety – without requiring multiple spotters.
