Did you know that neocloud industry exists, in part, because of a networking problem?

AI training can require thousands of GPUs working on the same model at the same time.

Those GPUs need to constantly exchange data - and if the network can’t keep up, expensive GPUs sit idle.

That created demand for infrastructure built specifically for AI: dense GPU compute paired with high-bandwidth, low-latency networking.

That’s where neoclouds were born.

Companies like CoreWeave and Lambda Labs rebuilt the stack from scratch. Bare metal GPUs, no virtualization, and networks designed alongside the compute, not bolted on after.

The result: GPUs that stay utilized, training runs finish faster, and costs stop spiraling.

Which means you don’t need to build your own data center to train AI models anymore - you can just rent one built to do this well.

P.S. are you still figuring out which cloud setup fits your workload?

Here’s everything major that happened in tech this week, and how it affects YOU if you work in IT.

→ The FBI just broke up a China-linked hacking group. They were routing traffic through hacked devices in 130+ countries. Hackers are getting better at hiding inside normal-looking networks.

→ Ent Security just launched with a $100M seed round, one of the biggest in cybersecurity history. It’s built to watch both human and AI activity on your devices.

→ Cisco and NVIDIA teamed up to add high-density Supermicro servers to their AI Factory. The lines between infrastructure companies keep blurring.

→ Kubernetes 1.37 just shipped new tools for scheduling and networking AI workloads. The tech behind AI keeps evolving fast to keep up.

→ Broadcom and Kyndryl grew their private AI partnership, and Cisco rolled out new sovereign infrastructure in Canada. Data control and compute access are shaping where AI actually runs.

Security keeps getting more advanced on both sides.

And the infrastructure race isn’t slowing down.

Is going into sales “selling your soul to the devil”?

That’s the fear I hear from SO many engineers.

Justin Ryburn became an SE and realized you can still be a good engineer AND be great at sales.

Here’s everything major that happened in tech this past week, and how it affects YOU if you work in IT.

→ NVIDIA is backing OpenAI’s newest data center guaranteeing up to $105B on a 20-year lease for an 8 gigawatt Ohio campus.

→ Device-code phishing is on the rise. Push Security has tracked 25+ kits abusing legitimate authorization flows. Security teams need to be watching the browser, not just the endpoint.

→ Apple sent another wave of mercenary spyware warnings, and researchers are seeing an unusually high number of people seeking help after getting them.

→ Microsoft patched 421 vulnerabilities in a single month - including an actively exploited Windows zero-day.

→ Cursor launched Origin, its own code-hosting platform for repos and PRs - landing the same day GitHub had a major outage.

The money keeps moving toward AI infrastructure.

The threats keep moving toward identity and the browser.
