It is a step that has long been announced: Google's browser Chrome now warns of websites without HTTPS. In the now released version 68, the address of every web page that was transmitted without TLS protection is placed in front of it: "Not secure".

Google, along with many other players, has been pushing for several years that web connections should only be handled via HTTPS. This not only protects against unauthorized reading thanks to encryption, but also prevents changes to the contents.

Chrome's move comes as no surprise. Some time ago Chrome introduced warnings for websites with forms, Firefox has a similar function. In the medium term, the warnings are to become even clearer, and the green locks on HTTPS websites are also to be dropped. The idea here: secure connections should become the standard and thus get along without a special symbol, all other connections will be warned.

So folks, get your websites updated to SSL/TLS.

We are happy to announce that we've updated our own website to the newest version of WordPress. The version 4.6, code name "Pepper", is the latest release of the worlds most used Content Management System.

Like always the version is stable and running. So far we couldn't make out any problems with our website. Nevertheless we won't upgrade our customers websites yet.

Due to the fact that WordPress is so popular and often used it is most likely that we'll see a version 4.6.1 with some bug fixe soon, which doesn't mean that the current version isn't well tested though.

With more than 6.000.000 millions installations and hundreds of thousands plugins there will always rise up some problem that you can't test up-front. So it's more our professional courtesy than a mistrust in the capabilities of the WordPress development team.
