پروتکل‌های استاندارد جهانی خیلی متنوع هستن، اما از معروف‌ترین‌ها می‌شه به پروتکل TCP/IP، که پایه‌ی اینترنته، اشاره کرد. پروتکل HTTP برای انتقال صفحات وب، HTTPS برای انتقال امن اطلاعات، پروتکل FTP برای انتقال فایل، و پروتکل DNS برای ترجمه‌ی نام دامنه به آدرس آی‌پی. این‌ها تنها بخشی از پروتکل‌های استاندارد هستن که به صورت جهانی استفاده می‌شن.

BPDU stands for Bridge Protocol Data Unit — the messages switches exchange to build and maintain the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP).

Normally, only switches send and receive BPDUs. End devices (PCs, printers, IP phones) shouldn’t send them.

BPDU Guard is like a security gate: if a port that’s supposed to be connected to an end device suddenly receives a BPDU, the switch assumes something is wrong (e.g., another switch got connected where it shouldn’t) and shuts down that port (err-disable state).

Common use:
It’s often enabled on PortFast ports (access ports going to end devices) to stop rogue switches from joining the network.
