The final issued version of the 1940 21/2d Centenary of First Adhesive Postage Stamp is sold for £2.50 in our shop at The Strand. Its hand-painted essay in black with detailing in China white and pencil is 500 times more expensive, however, as the magnificent unissued essay sheds light on the intricate artistic development of the stamp.
