California just ran the numbers on what would happen if their state slapped solar panels on 4,000 miles of its canals, including the major California Aqueduct, and the results point to a potentially beautiful partnership. Their feasibility study, published in the journal Nature Sustainability, finds that if applied statewide, the panels would save 63 billion gallons of water from evaporating each year. At the same time, solar panels across California’s exposed canals would provide 13 gigawatts of renewable power annually, about half of the new capacity the state needs to meet its decarbonization goals by the year 2030.

Covering waterways would, in a sense, make solar panels water-cooled, boosting their efficiency.

It's been enlightening to watch the US electoral college votes. It shows how legacy lives on.

It also shows how electronic voting can be interwoven with traditions even of it can be used to abolish them. Instead if ballot boxes designed in the 18th century, electronic audit of votes can still happen even where people get together.

At Thrupny we would like to congratulate President Elect Joe Biden and Vice President Elect Kamala Harris on their win because we are great believers in transparency in governance and the message they will send around the globe of unity with common decency matters.

The people who ran the highly structured electoral process are to be congranulated for a difficult job done well and with rigor.

We hope that this is a trend towards understanding of the complexity of electoral processes and that this will lead to an interest in the transparency, accuracy and auditability benefits of the blockchain.

When we see the election poll site auditors from both parties, it looks like a human blockchain, in the sense that each party can transparently audit all votes, its just blockchain does it digitally, with even less possibility of error and with very high security to attack, while giving each stakeholder a full and exhaustive copy of all voting.

Looking forward to a new era for world politics and the adoption of digital solutions to enable greater citizen transparency.
