The forum held at AAMVA HQ in Arlington, Virginia, reinforced a clear direction for the US digital identity market: mobile driver’s licences and digital identity are moving from early adoption to broader, standards-based, 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝘂𝘀𝗲.

As 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀, trust, interoperability, privacy, and secure verification remain central to building digital identity 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 both issuing authorities and relying parties.

Not every identity interaction requires someone to share everything about themselves.

Sometimes, a verifier only needs to know that a person is over a certain age.

Or that a credential is valid.

Or that someone is eligible for a service.

Or that a licence, permit, or ID was issued by a trusted authority.

A digital wallet can support more privacy-conscious identity sharing by helping people share the right information for the right purpose.
