Latest News: Germany's new super-agency will have a staff of 1,700, be based across two cities and will be operating next year, it's been revealed.

In a significant move to bolster financial security and combat economic offenses, Germany has announced the establishment of the Federal Authority for Fighting Financial Crime ( ). This new organization aims to fortify the nation's efforts in battling financial crimes, money laundering, fraud, and other illicit financial activities within its borders. The creation of the FAFFC marks a pivotal step in Germany's commitment to maintaining the integrity of its financial system and protecting its citizens from financial fraud.

The FAFFC will operate as an autonomous body with extensive powers and resources to investigate, monitor, and prosecute financial crimes.

For perspective the EU's new AML Authority ( ) is proposed to have up to 500 staff and be located in one city.

Life in the fast lane took on new meaning when the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a Finding of Violation (FOV) against MidFirst Bank (MidFirst) in 2022. The bank was held to account for violations of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferators Sanctions Regulations (WMDPSR).
