Africa has a rich narrative history, as well as a vibrant young generation that is boldly coming forward and making an effect on the world stage, and Netflix is now investing in that energy.
Netflix is now looking for authentic African stories for all its subscribers, particularly Africans at home and abroad.
There are many more projects in various states of production that will premiere in 2021, including the long-awaited return of King of Boys II. Young, Famous, and African, the continent's first reality show- will feature 2Baba, Annie Idibia, and 'celebrity stylist' Swanky Jerry.
The previously announced multi-title partnership with Kunle Afolayan will commission three new films from the filmmaker: a historical drama, a folklore fantasy, and a character drama. Then there's The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives, a Nigerian screenplay to screen original production by famous Nigerian producer, Mo Abudu. W. O. Wole Soyinka, a writer, poet, and dramatist, won the 1986 Nobel Prize in Literature for Death And The King's Horseman. This list is not exhaustive.
