Deign Dbolt Is Not Waiting for Permission to Become an Artist
In a music industry where many young artists spend years waiting for their big break, Deign Dbolt is taking a different approach: building while he waits.
Born out of Lupane's independent music scene, Dbolt has made his ambitions clear through both his music and his actions. The rapper and songwriter is not simply chasing songs or temporary attention. Through Dbolt Muzik Records, he is attempting to build a platform around his vision.
His music carries the weight of a young man trying to find his place while refusing to accept failure as a final destination. Tracks such as Why Me?, Wasted, Who Said I Care, Ekasi and Imali Yegazi reflect an artist comfortable exploring emotion, struggle and ambition.
What makes Dbolt's story interesting is the fact that his journey has not been built from unlimited resources or industry privilege. Like many independent Zimbabwean artists, he has had to balance real-life responsibilities with the pressure to create, promote and remain visible. At one point, employment stood between him and the music career he wanted. Eventually, he chose to push harder toward the latter.
Now, with collaborations including Codzo Style and Top Style, a growing catalogue and the ambition to develop his own music organisation, Deign Dbolt is becoming more than just another name releasing songs online.
He is a work in progress — and perhaps that is exactly the point.
Deign Dbolt is not presenting himself as a finished product. He is building the artist in public, one release, one risk and one decision at a time.
