Another question is what is the difference between Office 365 and Office 2016? Microsoft Office 2007/2013/2016/2019 is a suite of Office applications that generally includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Different versions of the suite include additional Office applications such as Outlook, Publisher, and Access. Microsoft offers a number of different Office 2016 editions, such as Home and Student, Home and Business, and Professional. The applications Microsoft includes in each edition of Office 2016 vary depending on the suite. Microsoft Office 2007/2013/2016/2019 Home and Student is designed for students and home use while Business and Professional is meant for corporate use in businesses and companies.

In contrast, Office 365 is a subscription based service with a variety of plans available. Some of these plans are essentially identical to the Office 2016 suites, but subscribers pay a monthly or an annual fee as opposed to purchasing the software license outright. Some Office 365 subscriptions are aimed at consumers or professionals and feature the Office applications, but others are intended for IT departments and feature server-side applications such as Microsoft Exchange or SharePoint Online.

One of the questions we get from clients is if Microsoft 365 is available on Apple's MacOS. Well, we have got great news. Microsoft Office now has a presence on all major platforms. There are desktop apps for Windows and Mac, there are mobile apps for iOS and Android as well as Windows Phone. We also now have the touch office apps that are available on Windows 10. Keep in mind however, to get full functionality out of the Android and iOS Office Mobile apps you’ll need a subscription.

Microsoft Apps for Business applies where you just need Microsoft Desktop Applications without the Exchange component. Outlook, Word, Excel and other desktop applications are licenced.

Microsoft Business Standard is the beast. With Business Standard, your desktop applications are licenced for the duration of the licence. It also comes with 50Gb per mailbox. With Business Standard there is increased productivity and you do not need to be online to use the apps, they are desktop installations usable offline.

Microsoft Business Basic is an excellent package for businesses who want to use Microsoft Applications but working on a budget. This licence allows the user 50Gb mailbox and Web versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. It also has Teams with its chat functionality and meeting capabilities for up to 300 attendees with Microsoft Teams. For your storage, there is 1Tb on your OneDrive Cloud storage. Sharepoint allows you to collaborate with others in your organisation.

Exchange Online Plan 2 comes with a bigger mailbox at 100Gb compared to the standard 50Gb. Added to that, the archive has 1.5Tb of storage. It also comes with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) to manage and control your sensitive data protecting it from accidental or intentional loss such as sabotaging.
