What does connectivity really mean?

For us, it goes beyond the technology.

On 22 February, we sponsored the Ward 42 Youth Soccer Tournament in Mdantsane. Parents filled the sidelines. Coaches directed with purpose. Young athletes represented their corners of Ward 42 with visible pride. We also set up a dedicated hotspot so every moment could be shared in real time, because access to connectivity is part of how communities mark and celebrate what matters.

Here's what we believe: connectivity and community are both infrastructure. One without the other isn't enough. A neighbourhood with reliable internet but fractured social bonds isn't thriving. And a tight-knit community without digital access is a community with a ceiling on its potential.

The communities we serve deserve both.

OFFICIAL PUBLIC STATEMENT
09 February 2026

One Brand. One Team. Leaving No One Behind.

Ilitha Telecommunications wishes to provide clarity and reassurance to our customers and communities following misleading information currently circulating in parts of Ward 48, Ward 20, and surrounding areas in Mdantsane.

Recent claims suggesting that Ilitha is moving or encouraging customers to join Fibretime, or any other Internet Service Provider, due to the entry of a new ISP or recent network outages are entirely false.

Ilitha Telecommunications has no partnership, agreement, or affiliation with Fibretime or any other ISP for the migration, transfer, or handover of our customers. We remain a fully independent service provider, operating exclusively under the Ilitha brand.

We are also aware of reports of individuals falsely presenting themselves as Ilitha representatives. To protect our customers, please note:
• All official Ilitha agents wear Ilitha-branded clothing
• All official Ilitha agents carry valid company identification
If you are approached by anyone claiming to represent Ilitha and you are unsure of their legitimacy, please contact us directly through our official Ilitha communication channels for verification.

We acknowledge that recent network outages have impacted some areas. These disruptions are largely the result of external factors, including infrastructure vandalism, power interruptions, and unforeseen technical incidents. Our technical teams are actively working to restore services, resolve faults, and strengthen the resilience of our network to prevent future disruptions.

Ilitha Telecommunications deeply values the trust placed in us by our customers. We remain committed to transparency, service excellence, and open communication as we continue to serve our communities.
We thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

Africa’s digital future won’t be decided by rhetoric. It will be shaped by who can execute, connect and collaborate at scale.

With the World Economic Forum spotlighting Africa this week, one theme is becoming clearer: digital inclusion is an economic growth issue, not just a tech issue. If South Africa wants to close the digital divide, we have to move beyond theory and actually build the ecosystem needed to make access affordable and meaningful for underserved township and rural communities.

Our CEO Vuyani Jarana will be in conversation with Linda Mnisi on the business of digital inclusion, from last-mile challenges to community-anchored affordability and ex*****on at scale in South African townships.

The interview will be live via Zoom. Recording to follow.
