MEC PANYAZA LESUFI TO MEET WITH PARENTS OF GRADE 12 LEARNERS WHO ATTEND SCHOOLS IN SOWETO

The Gauteng MEC for Education, Mr Panyaza Lesufi, will meet with parents of Grade 12 learners who attend schools in Soweto, on Sunday 19 July. The public engagement is a precursor to the Big Switch On Phase Two Launch, in which 375 schools across Gauteng are moving from the archaic chalkboard to the digital interactive smartboards.

Grade 12 Learners will now utilise new technologies to learn, solve problems, develop critical thinking skills and communicate ideas, in order to compete with the best in the world.

Parents are a key stakeholder, and theirs is to understand their role in the advancement of learning and teaching, which the Gauteng Department of Education has adopted under the ‘Wired For Life’ campaign.
