f.u.n.k.e Avionics announces new compatibility across their whole product range with other brands of avionics, through serial communication.
All f.u.n.k.e VHF Transceivers and Transponders, compact and stack mount, as well as the TM350 all-traffic monitor now have RS-232 “GTR225” emulation. This means that Garmin G3X , Dynon Skyview and Kanardia displays will be able to remotely tune, active-standby, swop frequency, cross-fill and status report simply by connecting serial ports to a f.u.n.k.e device which will automatically integrate with the remote display.
This new integration has already been successfully tested with Garmin, Kanardia and Dynon Skyview displays.
f.u.n.k.e Legacy units can be upgraded at a small fee to conform with these new protocols.
Adaptor cables for communication with Kanardia displays are available.

The FSG80-TB2 portable is the follow-on to the very successful KRT2-TB2. Developed by PJ Aviation in South Africa, we now employ f.u.n.k.e’s new FSG-80 transceiver, which was especially developed for use in high density ATM environments. Much more than an aircraft transceiver, the FSG80’s frequency stability is extremely high, allowing it to handle Climax frequency offset and operate in close proximity to other FSG80 without interference.

Unique features for a portable ground station include dual watch for monitoring 2 frequencies simultaneously, automatic recording and playback of the last 9 seconds of reception, 20 named station memories and quick recall of the last 10 frequencies used.

The well proven portable case, with high local content, stronger, yet simplified construction, offers easy servicing, modern design and convenience of use. Reduction in weight without compromising strength was a major goal in the development and this was achieved with optimum use of a combination of high strength corrosion resistance alloys. Accuracy of dimensions and fit is achieved through the use of CAD/CAM in a special facility in Johannesburg.

Important Update: New Representation for Kanardia and TQ Avionics

We would like to take this opportunity to inform you of an important change within our company.

As part of our ongoing efforts to streamline operations and better serve our clients, we have recently made the decision to transition our representation of the Kanardia and TQ Avionics product ranges to Comet Aviation.

Effective 1st May 2025, Comet Aviation will act as the official South African agent for both Kanardia and TQ Avionics.

PJ Aviation cc will continue to focus on our original core business with VHF Ground Stations, Funke Avionics (Dittel), Runway Lighting Controllers and Audio devices for high noise levels.

Since our ground stations are employing Funke components, we also naturally distribute Funke VHF Radios, Transponders and Traffic Monitors.

We are confident that this change will bring enhanced support and service to all our customers in South Africa. Should you have any questions during this transition, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

KANARDIA INTRODUCES NEW 10 INCH EFIS - NESIS IV 10

NESIS, the complete navigation, flight and engine monitoring system for the ultralight airplanes, autogyros and helicopters. The Nesis family of avionics is a self-contained state-of-the-art EFIS instrument optimized for NTCA aircraft.

To the existing 7 and 8.8 inch displays, Kanardia now adds the brand-new Nesis IV, with 10-inch touch screen with a panel space saving remotely mounted user interface, aptly named Kliky. This can be mounted vertically or horizontally anywhere on the panel or centre console. This innovative approach to the user interface provides better ergonomics, especially with a yoke, where a joystick controller is not possible.

A fast multicore processor supports 3D terrain, multiple maps (Southern Africa is preloaded), ADS-B In and radio support, check list, video input, flight planning, automatic log book, warnings connected to your audio system, engine cool and shutdown assistance, maintenance warning and personalised layout for engine display. Master and Slave units are available , as well as independent combination backup instruments and PFDs.

As with all other Kanadia Nesis and PFDs, the system supports autopilot functions, either directly to the servos or using an Amigo auto pilot panel. Kanardia’s newly upgraded servos with maximum torque increased to 8Nm have an integrated clutch offering zero resistance with Auto Pilot disconnected.

Weighing only 1,1Kg and drawing only 1,2A , NESIS IV needs no cooling fan. The AD-AHRS-GPS module is built in, so with a plug-in ethernet CAN bus, there is almost no wiring work required during installation. The EMS unit is ideally mounted on the engine side of the firewall, eliminating extended sensor wiring into the cabin.

The ATR 833S is a compact and lightweight VHF transceiver designed to meet the modern demands of aviation. Weighing in at under 400 grams, it features a 6W output power housed in a sleek 2 ¼ inch (57 mm) form factor, making it one of the lightest radios in its class. The ATR 833S incorporates state-of-the-art digital signal processing (DSP), ensuring stable and reliable transmission. Radio Activated Lighting Controller
Originally developed for pilot control of airport and helipad lighting, PJ Aviation’s “RLC” is now in its second decade of development. The all-new 2024 version is more compact than ever, employing a new multiband digital receiver making it suitable for airport and helipad lighting control as well as marine navigation beacons for energy saving and reduction in light pollution. The standard model is suitable for 9 to 15VDC operation. A 24V version may also be ordered. 3 onboard relays can switch 12A at 30VDC to 250VAC. The original concept of PTT activated radio pulses, according to FAA L-854 is followed. The unit is supplied without enclosure or switchgear. A short antenna extension cable is supplied.
